Original Parts Question, Rear Emblem and Dash Attache'

Does anyone else have a TTA, specifically original owners, with these parts on them as it came from the factory? Check out the rear emblem and dash attache'. I had an original one in 1989 and when I picked it up, all the emblems were on vehicle and it came with the owners collectors box with the decals. It also had the attache' with the sunglasses holder and 20th Anniversary Logo/Pin in the lower right had side. I spoke with the previous owner and he was not the original owner but he said the vehicle came like that when he bought it. I removed the rear emblem and replaced it with a replica that I bought on eBay. Very high quality with 3M tape backing and easy install. He was a great seller too if you need any replacements, just search for "carmotorsports" on eBay. Very fast response and delivery. Anyways, the rear emblem that was on there was a perfect fit and seemed to be plastic. It had the double sided tape like it was from the factory. My buddy back in 89 had a black GTA and he rear emblem and attache' looked like these. I would like to replace the attache' with one like in the stock TTA's but know that will be difficult to find. I bought the pins off eBay but the 20th Anniversary pin is smaller than the screaming chicken so I can't just cover it, plus it does not have the sunglasses holder. Anyone have any suggestions where to find one? Here are the pics of what is on there now and stock TTA parts.

The TTA also came with just black door handle with no inserts. The original TTA's had white inserts. The previous owner had bought custom 20th Anniversary Logo inserts and sent them with the vehicle. They are very high quality and easy to install, just clean the handle, peel and stick. They look more like the Stock TTA with white inserts rather than just black. They were bought from "aatcollectables" seller on eBay for $20 but I just did a search on eBay can did not find the seller or item available at this time.

I have seen some tta's with the GTA rear emblem like your car came with. Bill Sakes 9 second hardtop car had them.

I have never seen a glove box pocket like that on a tta. That is a non deluxe Firebird one. Not even a GTA one.

A GTA one will have the 2 pockets like the tta. In fact, to make the tta, they used the GTA pockets and stuck the emblem on like you can do. Get a used, perfect condition GTA pocket cheap, and put your emblem on it. Just make sure the GTA pocket is from 1989 or newer. If is is 87 or 88, it will have embroidery that you won't be able to cover up. If it is 89 or newer, it might have some type of bird printed on it, but that can be mostly covered with the emblem. What is not covered with the emblem can be easily blacked out with sharpie marker or black interior dye of the correct color. (try sharpie first. it will work fine. if it is noticeable for some reason, then go for the dye. Apply it with a very fine brush. But I can't imagine that the sharpie marker will be detectable, since it is such a tiny area and the color will match and so will the gloss level. And you may not even have a printed bird to black out anyway. I think some of them had nothing printed on them.)

If you want the correct door tapes, I have new old stock ones in my other house. If you want them I will send them to you for free. I got about 50 sets of them before gm stopped making them. Alternatively, a vinyl sign shop can make them for you if you have the measurements, which any of the members here could give you. I won't be at my other house for a couple months.

That is a nice looking car. I like the patina on the leather. It looks nice. I would not change that if I were you. If bolster is too damaged, it can be replaced seperately quite reasonably. I once had 4 sections of my seat done over for $170. The repair was was undetectable. They just replaced the 4 sections of the outboard bolsters, and stitched it into the existing leather using the old stitch holes again.

Yep seen several wiht the gold GTA bird back there, some of the cars @ Indy had that and they also had the gold bird wheel caps on them instead of the WS6 caps ...

For the map pocket nope not seen that one but I would not be suprised if it left the factory like that lol

I have never seen a TTA with a black bird on the rear. The white bird was like a trade mark for the TTA. All the tta's I've seen have the WS6 caps on the wheels and I've never seen a sun glass holder. The pouch is a replacement for no glove box. Again, I've never seen or heard of a logo like the one you showed in the pictures. The pouch has only one logo which is the same as the pins you see for sale from time to time, it's glued on. The white strip on the door handles is nothing more than tape that boaters use for the name of the boat. If you buy some it will cost you because they sell it by the role, about $50.0. The ones that you have were made by John Pearcy.

Hi Frank,

I hadn't seen one either until doing some research. I just bought this one off eBay and it came in a enclosed truck. As soon as the driver opened the back, I could see the rear of the car and noticed two things right away, the cracked spoiler, which I was aware of, and then the different rear emblem. You can imagine my concern, but once I saw the engine and drove it, I felt a lot better. I now know that there were a few out there like this. I even found one with pics on a website like mine. But the glove box holder still confuses me. I ordered one like the original from someone on eBay but it has the screaming chicken on it like the one I have. I have the pin with the 20th Anniversary Logo, but it is smaller than the etched on it. I will have to take Andre's advise from the post above and doctor it a bit to make it look the way I want it too.
