I have a feeling you might have got lucky on that one... but that depends on what you call lucky as once you have one they tend to lose their glamor pretty quick.

Don't worry, there will be another on there. Different day-different TTA item. Sellers are just begging you to spend your tax refund. Easy to get caught up in the hype. There are a few cool things on there now I am tempted to bid on. Wont mention any specifics so there are no bidding wars between TTA members. But I am not bidding on anything.

Bottom line is no one outside of a TTA owner is going to bid on any of this stuff and we are a very small group, that said some of these price's are inpressive considering such a small market...rock on guys and gals...,ttarider

I guess we are victims of our own high prices, because we keep inflating the prices. Supply and demand, but the supply seems good lately, but the demand ($$) is still high also.

A few people know what a TTA is but the majority don't know. We are a very small group and like to collect original TTA items, too bad some of the prices are insane!
Alot of us have paid premium prices for the TTA things we wanted, so more power to us, I have never regreted buying any of the items I have got over the last few years. Its all about personal satisfaction and caring alot for our cars!:beach:

I totally agree with you, BUT it seems that former owners or non owners that get a hold of this stuff seem to think its worth a lot. Holy owners kits batman....we thought our owners kits were high, this is nuts for a 25th! 1984 Pontiac Trans Am Owners Kit 15th Anniversary in Box RARE | eBay and now I see the title they put on it is incorrect

I agree...when the owner sells the car...the owners kit, owners manual, brouchures and any other paperwork should go to new owner. How would you like to purchase a new anniversary Trans Am and pay window for it and the salesman tell you, oh yeah you could have the owners kit and other specific paperwork for $1000 +
or like some people did back in the 80's is go to Pontiac dealers and remove build sheets from 83 DT500's denying the rightful owner of something that was theirs with the purchase of the car they were buying. I guess if they didn't know about build sheets and other things it's alright to take them ???

I agree with you 100% some people are really mess up,you are seen this more and more lately these kit's should go with the sale of the car.That's why these crazy prices are coming up because the poor guy that bought the car didn't get the owners kit with the car so he is willing to pay that price for it to make it a complete package.:thumbup:

Remember too that a lot of them didn't come with the car when new, for various reasons.

Referring to this particular seller on ebay with all of the TTA items, if you look at the other things for sale and the feedback history, they have a lot of different items. Including GNX, TTA, Mustang, etc. I suspect it was someone who had a dealership or close ties to one. They also have sold cars in their feedback, Corvette, Camaro, Trans AM, etc. Cant speculate if they own a TTA or not, but some of the memorbilia shows car #1164.

From what I recall the owners kits were not delivered with the cars, maybe hte jeweler that was making the emblems was late in making them it seems like, but none the less they were not delivered with the cars to the dealers, hence why most owners kits you see that are still in the original shipping box had the name and address label for the original purchaser still on the box....several examples of that are in the pics on the one on ebay right now.
Lots of the kits lately get separated from the car to due the buyer offering much less than the seller was asking, hence the bargaining begins. I know when I sold the ttop car, there was at least $2000 worth of extras and collectibles that went with the car that I already had a set of for the hardtop, didn't want to deal with separating and selling separate so the price of them was included with the car. If someone tried to give me a low ball offer, that was the first things to be taken out of the sale. In the end, I got what I wanted and everything went with the car including some custom things that were only for that car and no other TTA so there was no use in keeping them even for the hardtop. Only thing I kept was the set of 6 glasses and the jacket that originally came with the ttop car.
Yep the dealers where supposed to provide the details of the buyer and then PVL Inc. sent out the owners kit. However as mentioned many dealers never did so the original owner never got the kit.
Also you could buy just the kit at the time, and later from Kirban's ... for peanuts back then and some owners (or none owners) did so as well.
