pilot #5 for sale

The links to those pictures no longer work. I am glad you saved them Jan. You are right, no price was ever given. Middletown Oh I believe is close to Cinncinati. about 5 hrs from me. Thats a bit far unfortunately.
 
Kymmee.....this thread is a joke just like Mr Clark. As many times as he played this story it should be removed and he should be kicked off this forum. Oh I forgot to ask did u want my opinion lol
 
Well Chad has a problem mincing words.. never says what he really means...:rolleyes: But in this case he is right... this ain't a silent auction.
 
I did see this car in person 4 or 5 years ago. He actually had another TTA listed on Ebay for sale that I looked at that was at a car dealership in Middletown. After talking to the salesman (not Earl) he told me about his other TTA " the pilot car" that could possibly be for sale that was at a different location( Middletown Chevrolet ). Unfortunately the salesman never gave me a price. I then went to the Chevy dealership to take a look at it but couldn't check it out the way I wanted to. It was back in their detail area where no one except employees should be. Looked like it was being stored there.

Anyway I would be more than happy to take some pictures and post them. I am only 10 minutes away. I guess I will give him a call tomorrow and see what he says.

LOL I find it somewhat humerous myself. I just dont get what the big secret is about sharing pics or listing a price. You know the saying, "Sh-- or get off the pot". My interpretaton is that he is just a car dealer out to line his pockets and has no true loyalty to the TTA, unlike most of us.
 
Well I just talked to Earl and he didn't give me a price either. I really think he doesn't know what to ask of it or even if he really wants to sell it. He did quote a price of another pilot car bringing $140,000? He did say that he plans on researching the car more by taking pictures and sharing all the documentation on the car to better come up with a value.

The best place to do that would be this site so I am sure he will be on here at some point but who knows when,he doesn't sound very motivated to sell.
 
Ole Earl has played this cat and mouse game for a long time now alot on thisYAW site are tired of the rerun.....YAWN
 
I told Earl everything there's to know about the pilot cars ... would be very interesting to see what documentation that did come with the car given the previous ownership (PAS employee) and also the fact it was sitting on a lot to be sold back in 1992 I think it was but got pulled back ... pilot #4 where sitting next to it and sold to one of our members on the forum so in private hands since PAS sold the car ...

As to the value of the car ... whatever a potential buyer is prepared to pay for it ... rare to some extent ... unique as for the history however all depends on what comes with the car as well ... $140k or so well I don't think so ;)
 
Couple of pics as posted before but later deleted or links lost when moving to this new forum software ... and yes the VIN decals all show 1G2... and the VIN tag (window) shows 1G5... as replaced when GM sold them 5 pilots to PAS ...

Just an observaton Jan, do you know why the seat belt receiver button on his car is tan and not red?
 
Looking at the other pictures they are the "normal" very faded white/pink look; so in need of replacement :-)
 
I have enjoyed owning this piece of Pontiac history and have decided to make it available to someone else . I have owned the car for 6 1/2 years and cared for it well. I came to this site looking for information and got a lot of negative feedback because I wouldn't price the car or put more info on here ,etc. the truth is I was curious what the car may be worth and really had no desire to sell it at that time. This May at Mecum I will find out what this rare bird is worth. I would like to thank Jan for his help on the history and information provided to me on these vehicles. I appreciate your help. the #5 pilot car will be for sale at the Mecum auction Indianapolis in May.

Well guess you will find out. Good luck. I will say that alot of the negative comments on this thread were brought on by yourself. Members on this forum trust each other and are upfront. You chose to beat around the bush and dance around queations.
 
I don't think anyone is here to make enemies or start arguments. We're all here for the same reason. We all own the same rare car.

Anyway good luck with the sale!
