I spoke with JE Pistons today in regards to pistons for our cars. From what we researched and discovered was that JE makes there own version of the 89 TTA piston that is NHRA certified stock Eliminator pistons.
JE Part # 18139.
However these pistons sit 20 below the deck. I assuming to make up for the compression ratio difference. More detail information and specs will have to be gone over when anyone orders the pistons. However this is a great starting point if not all we need once the get the bore size.
Also listed here are the pistons for the Grand National. You can reference these piston as well since JE will not have to modify anything except the dish, that is, if your looking to maintain the Stock compression ratio for the TTA which is 8.0:1. Also JE will need to know the correct cylinder head cc's for the TTA which should be 41 cc's. Please correct me if this is wrong.
Buick GN Pistons with stock 48 cc heads, Compression Ratio 8.5:1
Part #, CID, Bore, Stroke, Rod Lgth, Block Ht, Comp Ht, Dome Vol,
312982, 233, 3.810, 3.400, 5.960, 9.510, 1.850, -28.6
312983, 233, 3.815, 3.400, 5.960, 9.510, 1.850, -28.9
131556, 234, 3.820, 3.400, 5.960, 9.510, 1.850, -29.5
131557, 235, 3.830, 3.400, 5.960, 9.510, 1.850, -29.5
*For example if you wanted .020 over pistons for the TTA. The dish would probably be around 42cc with 41 cc heads (TTA cylinder head volume) from what the JE rep said.
