found this on line earlier, looks like THAT barn find TTA made the cover of the August 2013 POCI Smoke Signal's magazine....i have yet to get mine in the mail but it looks like a pretty nice article with lots of good photo's.....
 
I think he posted on another forum he was taking it to the POCI Co-vention in Dayton Juy 9-13th.

just got my copy in the mail tonight (& the new Hot Rod too) was wondering what was taking sooo looong. there is a history of the mail getting lost around here and the P.O. is like three blocks away.....dont think the wife's gonna be happy now i got two new mags to read tonite. :mad2:.....
 
Brilliant, just downloaded the PDF.

Too bad with all the info on this site (and duplicated elsewhere) there's so many errors in some of the basic information ... heck even the interior color is down as saddle and not beechwood ...

Like all the black painted suspension parts that had "light oxidation on some fittings ..." lol
 
Yeah there's lot's of urban myth's out there, my favorite is they kept the HP low so it didn't upstage the corvette; i have seen that in a half-dozen magazine's.
BTW, i thought you knew that in certain part's of the country oxidation turn's black...:teehee:

Not so much of a urban myth at all actually ... at one point (early days) Mr Owen's boss had a letter from the GM top guy(s) asking what the heck they were doing as internal roumers said they had a car faster than the corvette ... in the end Mr Owen took a Corvette and a TTA to the track and warmed up the TTA as well as putting weights in it to get timeslips where the Corvette BEAT the TTA ... they sent the timeslips back as proof and never heard back ... then for later magazine shoot outs they didn't care as the project had been approved and delivered already (so the shootouts that appeared mid of 1989 in a few magazines) :cowboy:

Mr. Owen talked about this at the reunion didn't he? I remember somewhat of a story about an almost overheated TTA against a fresh Vette to fudge the time slips. But we all know the REAL story about the fastest production GM car in 1989.:yes:
