Polisher

When I saw the overspray on my valve covers and intake I was planning to pull them off to be polished. I wanted to get them done ASAP so I can continue with the install project. I still haven't found a polisher. Does anyone have a suggestion for me? I was origionally looking locally but I'm obviously way to rural, I guess I'll have to box and mail them either way. Any contact information would be appreciated.

Also, do you think that jet hot coatings for headers/crossover would be worth it? I guess any infomation on that service would be appreciated too.

Polishing is a waste of time and money in my mind. My dad and I did the polishing on my turbo and let me just say, it's a bitch to maintain and it's much farther in the open than the intake. To be honest, I would just paint or powdercoat both the intake and valve covers silver. A good powdercoat will resist staining and be very easy to clean but won't quite have the bling. You're also going to be paying a very pretty penny (not just a 2008 one) for polishing the intake because the lower valley is a royal bitch to reach.

As for the jet hot coatings, I've heard a lot of great things, just make sure you research the place that you're having the work done. Stick to the bigger plants even if they cost a little more since they tend to have the process ironed out a little better with less problems and better warranties. There are performance benefits to the coatings, and if you keep them maintained without ridiculous temperatures you shouldn't have to worry about them failing.

Thanks for your response Jared. I think I've come to the same conclusions.

I did find a polisher that quoted me $650 to polish the valve covers and intake. After talking to Jet-Hot I'm thinking of having them coated with their 1300 sterling. Nice shiney finish that is stain resistant for closer to $250.

I will also be sending my manifolds and crossover to get the Jet hot 2000. A few more weeks and this thing should be all ready to drop into the car!

Here's mine ... powder coated VC's up pipe silver. Intake (lower and upper) I beadblasted and painted silver then clearcoat. All brackets powdercoated satin black. headers, downpipe and crossover ceramic coated.

Jan, I looked really close to your pictures before making my decision. It is far less expensive than polishing and looks much nicer than the stock ones currently look.
