I wanting to get my heads ported. Do I have to get bigger valves or could I stay w/ what I got? Also how much am I looking at spending? Never really got a set of heads ported before so I want to know what I have to do. Does anyone have any names thaey can give me that can do this? Thanks!

Hi there Sean!

What do you say in USA, bigger the better?
When you port the heads, step up to maximum valve size.... way better flow and the more air/fuel mix thru the heads.

Get a set of 3.0 FWD Pontiac heads, they are the same. Casting #25527515, i think they where around $60 for a pair.

You can also e-mail former TTA owner Phil Cockrell [email protected] and listen if he has a set over, he does also have a good connection for the porting/valve job.

I think total price where $600 incl. the heads, porting, new valve springs, biggest stainless valves, sealings yada,yada,yada...

PS: Are you signed up to the new e-mail list? 8)

What do I need those for? I am kinda confused on that.

I was signed up on the new list but I am in the desert right now and I really can't get on the net to much. As soon as I get back, I will back on. Thanks for your reply. I didn't think anyone realy cared. :)

To save the factory TTA heads... you know the stock talk, if you someday sell the car.... the 3.0 heads aren't matching numbers.

Got it. I didn't know that they were the same. So your saying get the 3.0 heads and use them and if I ever sell the car, I will have the original ones. Thanks for the info.

I tried to e-mail Phil Cockrell and it was sent back saying that the address did not exsist. Is there another e-mail address or some other way to get ahold of him?

Thanks,
Sean

Just to make sure, can anyone tell me whether or not the 25527515 head castings will interfere with the A/C box like some Buick heads do?

I already have ported heads on my original TTA engine, done by Champion and am very happy with them. However, if you install a regular Buick GN head in your TTA, you will hit the A/C air box. So my question was whether the 25527515 heads would hit the box or not. Somebody on another forum came up with the answer and confirmed that the 25527515 head will indeed clear the box. So, good to go!

The GN heads are totally different so the TTA headers, accessory brackets, valve covers etc wont fit anymore ...

The 515 casting is identical to the original TTA castings besides the part number .... I got a NOS set of 515's just in case and I compared them to my OEM TTA castings (that are also ported but not sure who did it) and they are 100% identical.

Hey I have a set of real TTA heads in my basement if anyone needs them. They're nowhere near as cheap as 515 heads though!
