Possible Engine Rebuilt

This was decided when I first got the car. If it has to be done, so be it.


If will be pulled apart shortly to look to see if I have piston damage or anything else. If it is bad enough I am going to rebuilt it.

Geting some ideas together for parts:

Pistons, need forged pistons. Should I go with JE forged pistons or what brand and what vendor.

Rings, what brand and vendor

Bears for crank, rod and camshaft. What brand and where.

As far as the heads go. I have a extra set of orig TTA casting heads I will take to Champion, any ideas what I should I do to them, maybe porting them.


Just trying to get some ideas together in case I need them.

I used CP's,they have a TTA piston that has been made with some meat removed to maintain stock level of static compression.

Rings, what brand and vendor

Whatever your piston maker reccomends, I like standard tension iron ones.

I have to add this,... from experience and others advice...You'll need to find a reputable machine shop...you'll need to tell him what you want to accomplish with this engine,you need to let him do his thing without offering any internet advice you've read about. If you're assembling the block you need to check all his work, because if they missed something it's his problem, but after it's together it's yours.

You can ask for his opinion on parts he likes to use and take his advice if you like the answers. But if he's assembling it, he'll probably want to use parts of his choosing.

Advice is appreciated, I am going to take car to GA for a second opinion. Two opinions are better than one. Prior to the problems with the car, it was running too good. This baffles me. It is hard to believe that a piston has failed. Hopefully I will find out soon. Like I said earlier if I have to rebuild I will. The body on the TTA is too good to scrape.
