Possible TTA purchase

I just registered on this site. I have a GN and am a fan of the TTAs. Would someone be able to run a vin check on a possible TTA purchase for me? The vin # is 1G5FW217XKL239029. I am going to look at it soon but want to know the story ahead of time if anyone is able to fill me in. Accident history? Theft? Production number? etc etc Thanks for your assistance.

Thanks for the information. But I did not get the email from you. My address is [email protected]. The car has what sounds like a bad history to it and I wanted to find out if it was worth getting involved in. The spoiler and tail lights were stolen and the interior rug was bleached(??). The glass and T-tops, and seats are supposedly mint as are the wheels. The car is not running (fuel pump is suspected by the current owner). The vandals spray painted and smashed a few things under the hood too. Car has been sitting for 3 years or so and I am buying it assuming everything needs to be fixed. What do you or anyone else feel would be a good price for this? Is it too much of a mess? Worth getting involved. I have the car being held for me right now so a speedy response either here or to my email would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well not toolong ago i called on a car that just needed paint, was in primer, the interior was mint and it didnt run, owner said it needed a timing chain, simple enought\. He was asking $4000 FRIM. So if that helps. If more than that keep looking you can find NICE cars for around 10K.

I have just returned from looking at the car and let me say Rest in Peace #432. The car was heavily vandalized and that is putting it nicely. The taillights were ripped out of the vehicle and all of the wiring was torn. The spoiler is missing. The carpet inside is gone, and what pieces are left smell like urine and are bleached white. The t-roof bar is rotted through and every seatbelt was CUT out of the car. The nets on the backs of the seats were cut and the two front fenders were smashed and spray painted white. The rear bumper was black underneath and spray painted white too. Under the hood someone took a can of silver paint and spray painted everything. Every piece of trim is missing or destroyed beyond repair. The rims were attempted to be stolen but the wheel locks saved them. The doors and all of the glass was good and the leather seats are actually in great shape. I ran the car through carfax and the NICB database and everything said the car is ok. You may think this would make me not interested but I was looking for a cheap car to play with and this seemed to fit the bill. The guy who owned it had the title in some lady's name. Apparently some lady owned the car and stored it at a storage place and abandoned it. The storage place took posession of it. They then called the tow company and they took ownership and posession. They ordered a duplicate title and are listed in the mailing address box but the lady is still listed as the owner. The guy has her signature on the back (supposedly) but I cannot prove it. So he is selling a car that in the eyes of the state he does not own. So I would be giving someone other than the real owner the money. It was $4000 and I think it will go for significantly less and I would have paid it but it does not appear to be in my best interest since the lady could come back and take the car whenever she wants. If anyone knows of a way around this or would be interested in taking the risk to get the car let me know via email or this board and I will give you the information. I hate to see it get parted out and crushed but unfortunately it is headed that way.

Thanks for the carfax run but I had already paid for it last night (aaargh). I forgot to mention in the other post that the TTA title says 25000 even and the odometer says 23650. Kind of strange. So when the last person registered it they just 'guessed' at the mileage without going to the parking lot and verifying it and now the car looks suspicious. I wonder how so many idiots out there get their hands on good cars. I am now going to cease my ranting for a while.
 
Is the TTA running? I know a number of people who would love to get their hands on a ruined TTA and turn it into a street terror! They just couldn't bear to heavily modify their "Garage Queens"!

He said it needs a fuel pump and that is why it is not running. I had a parts car (89 Formula) lined up to fix some of the wiring and for the spoiler and some other miscellaneous pieces but the parts car was in better shape than the TTA. I guess I am better off without either, I think I will just wait a bit longer and get one of the low low mileage ones like I did with my GN. If I parted with my GN I could go buy one of the TTAs with under 5k miles but I want to have both so the TTA purchase will be on hold for a bit.

Hey, just read this post, if I am not mistaken you can file for an abandoned vehicle title and if they can contact the owner on the title within however long and the owner wants the car then the owner will have to pay whoever they owe money to and they get the car or they can forfeit the car and the title is your along with the car, the only catch to this is that you could possibly lose any money you give to the guy that currently has the car unless you claim the money is owed to you. Go down to motor vehicles and ask them about how to do all this, there is a legal way to do it that wont put you at risk of losing anything, just check with them first. Towing companies do this all the time.

Sounds like the car could become a real street terror in the right hands, if you dont do it, there is probably a line of guys out there that would love to get their hands on this car cheap
BTW, $4000 sounds pretty steep, I would guess more around half that, especially if anything TTA specific is missing.

my car was a garage queen when i got it last year with 16000 miles on it now it has 19000 miles on it full roll cage and a stage II motor is going in to it so im sure that will make some people cry and btw this is a mint car no noticable flaws never hit and all original sheetmetal

Good for you! It's your car, do whatever turns yer crank! The way I see it, is that after a car serves its purpose it is worth nothing! I don't picture cars as investments I use a vehicle for what it's meant for. I work a work truck, I race racecars, and sport sports cars, I gave up babying vehicles after my dad wrote the TTA on the first day I owned it! Don't get me wrong, I still like to keep my vehicles appearing close to stock, but I don't waste my time being fussy about small details anymore!

PS: I would luv to get my hands on that TTA, if someone could just point me in the right direction....
