I have removed and successfully repaired/replaced three of these in Buick GNs over the years. I am now working to repair the TTA antenna with the new cable from GBody Parts. We purchased the car and the antenna was always in the down position. I pulled the black panel on dash on the passenger side inside as well as the panel near feet to locate the wires running to the antenna. I found the relay with the white, grey and green wire on the dash and followed them down and to the antenna. I noticed the green wire was cut in half with a male end on one and female on the other to power this up. I assume the former owner did this for some reason but not sure. I was able to hear the motor run when I plugged the two together and quickly unplugged them.
I removed without issue the antenna and installed the new cable after cleaning everything up, applying silicone where the old silicone was and put it back together. I have it laying on a short table outside the car and antenna is in the up position. My plan was to connect the green wire, power it up and lower and raise the antenna to test it before placing it back inside the fender. However, I have NOT been able to get the motor to make any noise at all when connecting the green wire back together. In the past I was able to do a bench test by removing the antenna and three wires/connector from the Buick and send power to the antenna motor and had no issue.
However, this one is different, and I cannot figure out why I am not seeing power to it unless somehow the ground is there when the antenna is put back inside the fender and it is not grounded now but this is just a guess. If there was a connector I could take apart and pull the wires through like in the Buick I could do what I need to via a bench test but I am not seeing a connector under the hood or inside the car near the passenger feet or on the dash. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
