Radio won't power off

Hello, I have owned my TTA for 3 months now and my work keeps me away for weeks at a time, but every time I return my battery is dead. It holds a charge when started every couple of days and the only power draw I have found is that the OEM radio display never turns off, even with the key out of the ignition. Has anyone else come across this? Any suggestions would be welcome.

Might be a problem with the ignition lock cylinder. You should also check the fuses and relays to make sure they are function properly. Just my thoughts on it. I am not in anyway shape or form an auto tech or anything like that. But my bro-in law went to training for automitive electric systems.

Yep cheap ass AC Delco stereos. You can have it repaired (for more than radio is worth) or buy one on Ebay and make sure it works.

I would disconnect the radio totally and see if that's what drains your battery but sounds like that's the culprit.

If it won't power off could be somebody hooked it to a wrong hot scource or the radio is fryed, either way unplug it... i never turn the radio on anyhow, too many other things to listen to....

There is a hot wire that keeps the time on the radio but the display is controlled by the radio itself through an ignition wire. Some AC Delcos had a feature where you could check the time by pressing either the volume or selector knob. Could be an issue with that or something else but sounds like a radio issue not wiring.

Red yellow and orange are your power sources...

I have the same problem. I have a battery tender hooked up so the battery does not die. Without it the battery dies in 4 days. I am not bothering to get it fixed.

I unplugged the radio today so will wait and see what happens. I will report back...thanks for the comments.

Car has started without issue for a week now so obviously a bad radio. Thanks for the advice. I have decided to buy a newer Pontiac OEM radio with CD player to replace it, solving two issues at once. Has anyone had any experience using a newer radio in place of the OEM one?
