removing gear shift knob

What is the best way to remove the auto trans gear shift knob, need to replace or recondition at dallas steering wheel?:cold:

There is a small C-clip at the front of the shifter. Get a fine pick to help get it started and then pull it out using some pliers if needed. Then just pull the shifter up, that's it!

Thanks, I hope I don't loose the C-clip.

It doesn't need to come all the way out, it can hang in a little if you're careful about getting it out, and it makes it much easier to install too.

That's true, you can leave the clip in. But you know what they say...
