Residential Hobby 4-Post Lift

I know this is off topic of TTA stuff, but just thought I would ask. Does anybody here have a 4 post lift in there MAN cave or "garage"?
If so what type: Brand, Model, etc. I'm looking into getting one possibly soon & there's many choices out there. I'm pretty familiar with the majority of them since I work in the field, but they are more of a commercial grade style lifts like Rotary, Western & Mohawk.

For residential applications, I've read about the Backyard Buddy, Rotary Revolution, Bend Park, Direct Lift-Pro park, Classic Auto Lift, etc. Of corse every body thinks there lift is the best and prices vary & I know you get what you pay for. I would really love a 2 -post lift, since thats what I use on a daily basis, but I have a post tension slab in my cave & drilling is not an option. So only a residential 4-post lift will work, I'm also wired for 220v. Any thoughts, thanks group????

I have 2 in my 3 car garage. They are direct lift pro-park and pro park plus.
I got them from GregSmithEquipment.com
My TA sits on one tucked away. Corvette under TA. And the other I use to work on the GN. In the winter the vette will go up so I can still work on it.
 
Chris, how heigh are your ceilings?? I've been looking into getting one as well, but not sure if I have enough height.

Glad I could make some one :D

I'm in Cleveland, Ohio for a few days visiting family & friends. I'm heding out tomarrow to Warren Ohio, were they make the Backyard Buddy, 4-post lift. My Dad & I want to see it in person. And see if the quality, is as good as I've been reading about, I'll keep the group posted, if anyone is interested in it.

I love the rotary post lift in my shop ..... im building a house now with a 3 car garage. I plan on putting a rotary lift later on in the garage I plan on building beside the house. It will be a rotary 2 post lift like this 1.

Well, my Dad & I met up with the plant manager (owners son) of Backyard Buddy in Warren, Ohio. Gave us a tour, behind the scene, of their full production, & it was pretty cool to see. The weld quality, materials, hydraulics, cables,etc used is all top notch & every thing, was Heavy Duty Domestic Steel & all made in the USA. (And I mean everything) A++

So, long story short, order was placed on their extended height 4-post lift, had a few freebies thrown in & and also had some good discounts on a few of the accessories that I wanted with it.

If your ever going to look into getting a 4-post lift for your garage or "man cave." I would definitely put Backyard Buddy on the list. Its not the cheapest buy any means, but you do get what you pay for, thats for sure.

Yes, I have always wanted one also, but ceiling clearance is my hangup too. I have a 3 car garage in a 2/1 style. The 2 part has a garage door w opener which swings above and is only about 7-8' off the ground when it is up. Then up another foot are wood beams on which U can lay things.

So, it looks to me like U would have to remove those beams to go up any more, and cut out the door opening higher, get a taller door, and have it go up higher when it goes up. Sounds like a hell of a lot of time & money.

My 1 car garage has a manual swing up door that goes to a similar height, and ~ an 8-9' ceiling, and above it is a storage space where I put all kinds of car parts mostly. So, I'm looking at similar massive mods.

I don't think most garage designs are going to have alot of overhead space to let U stack 2 cars. Guess I need a new house ! I'm thnking that U would have to design a garage specifically to do this.

I put a bid in on a house here in GA before I bought my current place. I wasn't "crazy" about the place as it was a little on the small side and a little further out in the sticks. But the garage had like 10' high ceilings! Would've worked great for a lift. Plus, since the house was pretty cheap I could've bought a new toy with the extra money leftover. In the end I'm happy with the decision I made.
 
My garage ceiling at the lowest point is 9 foot 4 inches & 17.5 feet deep with the door closed. Theres a formula to calculate how much clearence is needed to stack the cars, but it also depends on the upper & lower car heights. I think the minium celing height is 8 feet, put that depends on the cars & lift manufacture that you choose. These are residential lifts w/no drilling required, so they take that into considration when building them for home use garages.
