Alright TTA 733 is all back together, everything good. My scanmaster numbers all look good. Int is 128 BUT..... BLM is 138 on cold start for 8 sec then 133 at idle and hot idle. ( hot idle being 165-168) I listened to the motor with a tube for a vac leak and heard a hiss at the vacuum block. I replaced the gasket and bolts but no change. I listened more and heard the hiss from the bolt holding the throttle body to the plenum. Is it even possible for a vac leak to leak through bolt threads/ holes?? Its the bolt by the number 2 in the pic. Or is it more likely the tb gasket?? Should I even worry about blm 133?? It concerns me cause my other cars are 128 blm steady. Here are some pics...

try a new gasket , make sure you are using the right bolt and whats unhooked below the bolt? I think that blm # is adding fuel , what is fp set at ? but if you have a vac leak i think it will raise the blm's

Don't know if you've driven the car yet as there is a lot of ECM learning that needs to be done driving before we start diagnosing BLM's.

That being said, the 138 number is probably from the after start fuel calculated in open loop mode. I don't know what you mean by" hot idle being 165-168 " but that's an issue if it's BLM's and it's adding allot of fuel and your IAC number might be bottomed out too.That might explain the hissing as all the air the engine needs is going past the throttle blades.

There's allot of reasons behind an out of spec BLM numbers, but I guess we need to establish what is the spec or range of an open loop idle chip

I personnaly wouldn't give a second thought to a 133 at hot idle number. But that would be with a properly set TPS, a MAF that is reading around 4-6 gps, air inlet temps that are normal and coolant that is above 140*
 
now that i think about it before i found my vac leack (egr gasket) the blm's were up around 155, i think i read that + - 5 from default is common

The thing unhooked in the pic is the coolant line that runs through the throttle body to warm it. I have bypassed the throttle body in my water line circuit. Also my egr is gone I have a champion intake and they weld it shut. I also have a block off plate with silicone sealant over the holes.

Yeah you're right I think I need to drive the car. I have not driven it, this is just from idling in the garage. The 165-168 is the coolant temp at hot idle. All other scanmaster parameters are within normal limits, iac is good 16, tps is .44, maf is 6, int is 128, mal is 00.

Perhaps I am jumping the gun here as I probably need to drive the car, I just want to have it perfect for when the snow melts so I don't have to dick around.

I still hear the hisss from that bolt though, when I trace the gasket with the hose to my ear it only hiss's next to the bolt, not along the entire gasket. Maybe I should remove the bolt and apply some loctite or some thread sealer and re install it??

Try spraying a little brake clean or equiv to the area and see if engine responds with an idle change or see if numbers change.
 
I was thinking the same thing. Try some premium starting fluid and look for any increase in rpm. That will help locate the leak area.

Or try to make 25 pounds of boost in the garage and look for blowing bubbles with soapy water. :blink:
 
People under estimate the need for the ECM to "learn". Everytime the battery is disconnected the car should be driven for 20 minutes of some stop and go driving.
For whatever reason, even my MAF's lowest gps changes after I do a re-learn drive around. It's the strangest thing...it won't read below 6 gps then after it's been warmed up and driven around town it will settle in at around 4 gps.

Even changing the MAF sometimes needs a re-learn or a minimum idle adjustment too.

Moreover, open loop idle chips idle at a distinctly lower A/F and if I recall that's because the Buick V6 responds to a richer idle than 14.7:1.So chip makers design that in.
 
Ok so I had blms of 133-135 and I took ws6's advice and road tested the car for 10 min and blm's went to 141. VAC LEAK for sure. So I removed the PVC line from the VAC block and capped it off, plugged the PVC VAC line with a bolt and reset the ECM. Now blm's are 123 at idle.

I have an rjc PVC valve, new VAC line going to the block from the valve. With the PVC system capped off I had a lot of more smoke from the breather and the Hssss. Was gone so I am positive this is my problem, I just don't understand how??? Everything is new??

Any advice?
