Ok I read all the posts from recent all the way back to 2002. I thought I had a good idea and was almost decided with Katskins.... But now I'm more confused than before. It seems it's either katskins or jaxs. It also seems that there has been negatives and positives for both (to be expected IMO). The major hurdle I have is the color. It seems that several of the photos attached appear to be waaaaay off in color. Katskins seem that the Carmel is closer. Has anything improved recently? What is the color? Has anyone replaced the front seat foams from hawks. Just seems the thing to do if you already have the seat stripped down.

I have Katzskin's on both my TTA's from different owners. The color is off slightly between cars (one seems more orange than the other) but not significant. The quality seems really good though. From what I understand, the JAX are an easier install. Robert Lee can tell you first hand with the install of Katzkins as he had to deal with it on #308.
 
Personally i would go with Jax, as far as i know no one offer's the correct seat foam, that's why i bought a whole car just for the seat's.
 
Well my seats feel nice just figured do it all but if the replacement foam is Garbage I'll skip that. Robert can I ask what reasons you choose jax?
 
I didn't say the foam is garbage, i said no one that i know of sell's it, i believe the one's you are looking at from Hawk's is for standard seat's, as far as the seat cover's go the fit is better with Jax which in turn mean's it cost less to install... ( alot less)
 
Ahhhh I skimmed over that part the foams r for the standard. I guess the covers would be real wrinkly if I did that lol! I just got off the phone with jax. I'm going to confirm with a sample and prob have them do the install. Lil pricey but I'm deep into this car already so why stop now?? Right ? I'll need some support on this!
 
From the cars I have seen, I think Jax are closer in appearance to the original, but way more expensive. Katzsin quality is awesome. I have a set in my Pathfinder that were dealer installed and the leather is high grade - more like something you would see in German cars. It is thicker and wears better then the original TTA leather. It is not as smooth as the original leather grain though, and the color is off. It seems nothing is perfect though as even replacement carpet for the TTA, while definitely better quality, is a darker color. As long as you change all the seats at one time, only a keen eyed TTA fanatic like us would probably know any better, and the replacement leather looks great.
 
You are doing it right by getting samples. Also keep in mind that you need to view the sample in different types of light-indoor, outdoor sun and clouds. Cant speak for Jax, but with Katzkin I got the complete sample trifolder and there are 4 or 5 colors that are real close, but not exact. As I said, the color varies in different light. As Vincent said, your best bet is to do all 4 seats at once. I did not do it that way, but color difference is very minimal.
 
After reading all u guys responses I plan on going with jax. They r located in eagle river Wisconsin. Decided since I make numerous trips there to snowmobile I'll just take them there and ask to see the factory/shop while there. I was impressed with the conversation I had with them. They quoted me 65.00 per seat for there labor. I'm excited to see the sample and hope the plan I just laid out works!

I've had the Jax seat covers (front only) ever since he first came out with them maybe in 2004/2005 ... and am very pleased with color match and the thicker better quality leather.
 
$65/ seat is well worth it. You have to sew the bolster on from what I understand and stretching those covers is no fun....
 
I paid around $150 at the time to have my fronts installed ... and yes as pointed out the bolsters have to be transferred from your old to your new and stretching the leather to look good is a bit of a pain apparently.
 
I have the katskinz, I paid $250 to get the fronts installed, they added new foam also. The color is somewhat lighter than the rears, but the rears are 25 years old and the leather darkens over time. I'm very happy with them however.
