My car has 9k miles and sat for 10 years without driving. I don't use it much but would like to be able to without worrying. On the other hand I don't want to start turning bolts on a motor of a car that is all original including tires.
My third TTA I drove 240k miles on the stock chain then sold the car to someone who drove it home 3,000 miles. But that was years ago.
I think the sprocket has plastic gears and I have seen plastic gears fall apart and ruin 1968 cadillac motors within 22-32 years, depending on mileage. But it was always on a car with at least 50k miles and the plastic technology in 1968 was probably worse. Plus those motors run at 210 degrees all the time and the tta motors run 160-180.
Should I change it soon or not? How long do these things last?
