Simple Ways To Improve Engine Looks

I cleaned and polished the ac accumulator, it was really tarnished and stained it looked bad. I thought I would have to replace it with a new one.

I removed the old stains and tarnish with scotch brite and stainless steel wool, and then I polished it with aluminum polish. It looks great now, it is so shiny you can see yourself in it.

Also cleaned and removed alot of the bad stains on the valve covers, they were pretty bad also. I had no luck cleaning them with cleaners, tried almost everything. So I removed the stains with a wire brush and finished with stainless steel wool and they look much better. Sometime I will remove them so I can get to the hard to reach areas.:beach:

Looking good!

I used steel wool on my ac accumulator then clearcoated it so it lasts ... I had all my stuff apart anyway so easy to do ... same with the A/C hard lines and fittings.
 
Looks great!! I'd like to do my ac unit as well. I like the location of your coolant overflow tank Mike. I just place mine on the battery, your location looks much better.

Thanks Jarred, The coolant overflow tank has worked out really well here, mounted with the brackets that came with it.

I might try putting a clearcoat on the ac accumulator tank as Jan did on his, to make the shine last longer. I am really surprised it came out as good as it did, it was stained and really dull at first.

The small things we do make a big difference.

That is billet aluminum inlet bell that came with my turbo. I got the turbo from Kirbans and they drop shipped the turbo from limit engineering in Arizona and send the inlet bell in a seperate box from Kirbans.
 
Here is a pic of my cars engine, before I got it. Pretty shabby indeed. You think it looks any better now?
 
And look at the overflow tank with heat shield blanket, terrible!!!

That radiator was bad so I had it replaced with a new one, took it for a drive first time and it starting spewing and leaking water everywhere.

Nice improvements! IMO nothing detracts more from a car than a dirty engine bay. I use steel wool 0000 on my turbo cover, downpipe, valve covers, A/C hardlines, and a few other areas. Also I found 3 spools of corrugated plastic wire wrap (1", 1/2" and 3/8") in the garage, so this spring I'm going to re wrap all the wires that have the corrugated cover on them. Should really make it stand out!:)

Spring fever is in the air.... won't be long till they are back out again. The Sun made another appearance here in Chicago and had to get out today for a cruise.
