Some ?'s on TTA's

Hi guys,new here ,and starting to take interest in TTA's.I have an 87 GN that I have owned for 20 years now,did your typical mods,runs 12.20's @111-112 mph,so I know the basics about the 3.8 turbo sfi drivetrain.But my question is,is the computer the same,I mean can I use my proms out of my GN in a TTA?
Also,being that most of them were the same,what did they sticker at,and where do you see what number car it is?
I'm getting more serious about picking one up.Would like to find one all orig and less than 25k miles.

No.

I've seen numbers from $28k to $35k commonly. There were some outliers that priced significantly above that. It would be interesting to have that info in one place.

Yes,computers are the same.

And maybe on the prom,that is, if the mods are the same on the TTA as are on your GN then yes, they are completely interchangeable.The calpak is interchangeable too.

Search for 250969394303 which is the Item Number on eBay.

That was VIN: 1G5FW2171KL243275 and the photo under the hood had Job Sequence # 11-2138.
So per Scott's Site it is car #856 and it has list the Job Sequence Number of 0112138 so it all matches up..............:toot:

Saw that one in Ma with 9,100 miles on ebay.Went on their site,they want 29,900 for it.It has welded on frame conectors.To much money IMO.

Another question,I know where to get the GN/T-Type parts,is there a place that just does TTA parts?Downpipes,exhaust,dump pipe,etc?Who/where?
I have an extra scanmaster,is that the same for TTA's?Thanks,just getting all the info I can as I search for one.

There used to be a TTA specific parts vendor, but he's since got out of the biz about 5 years ago. Your best option is to talk to vendors that have supported the LC2 (86-87 88 GNX, 3.8 turbo buick) platform for several years becasue most of them have either owned TTA's or they have worked with people that have owned them. I've used Jack Cotton for support as well as Mike Licht at Full Throttle for help. They both carry turbos and other supporting engine parts.

As for unique pieces like Downpipes, searching these forums for used ones or turbobuick.com in the TTA section is your best bet. Sometimes they come up for sale. There are 3 types Terry Houston (most common) Mease (rare-harder to find) and Jim Dunn.

For transmission build up, I called on Art Carr (the man himself not his old company) He owns a Grand National himself and has had it for many years and is big fan of the 200r4 that we have.

CAT is same Pt# as GN and same muffler as a run of the mill Trans am or Z28 of that generation. Here are some pics of the undercarriage.

It was in a dealership to show the underside of the car. There is a link on here about it. They put it on a matress. Jan would know more details.
