Spare Tire thing Q?

yeah I'm pretty sure my car has it, it's a spacer for the winged bolt that holds the fill tank to the lug nut hole. If no one can help you out before next weekend bump this back up and I'll get you some pictures and dimensions when I get back home.
 
Don't know whether I have that or not, would have to see. How do you fill the blue co2 bottle for the spare?

If you could that would be good. Seems like it was used both for the nut/bolt holding the CO2 bottle AND the one holding the spare tire in place.

I can get some black ruber things overhere just like to know roughly the size of the originals before I get some ... lenght / diameter (outside) / hole diameter and if they do have some odd shape at the ends. And a photo from a few angles would be great.

That's the one, do you have just one or is there two of them? Illustration shows two are bing used?

If you can get me the length and diameter would be great and I'll go shopping for something that will work.
 
I only found one, It was lying loosely underneath spare tire. Could possible use two. I will put it where the co2 bottle goes. I tried it and it goes nicely there.
It is about 1 7/8 inchs long, about 3/4 inch wide and center hole is about 1/4 inch wide. It has a slight bevel on one end for going against lug nut hole in tire. It is composed of hard rubber, you can't mash or bend it.
I will try to find a second one at hardware store or auto parts, and try to bevel the end with a dremel.

Many Thanks! I'll see what I can come up with that will work.

Guess most of these got missing in action during the life of the car ... can't ever remember seeing any just stumbled across this the other day when looking at the parts diagrams for something else.

Really appreciate the help.

Nothing is ever easy :-)

If you look at the bolt for the co2 bottle (no 16 in the diagram) there's two versions one for the N65 spare (this one is 32mm long and is what I have on mine and this bolt is too short for a 1 /7/8 rubber spacer to fit ... less than 1/2 inch left of it when bolted in place) ... then there's another bolt no 16 in the diagram for the N64 spare which is (if I remember correct) our 15 inch aluminium spare ... no length mentioned in my books.

What's the length of your bolt that fit with the rubber spacer on there (for the co2 canister)?
 
From what I can remember there is only 1 of the rubber spacers, on the bolt for the CO2 canister. The spare is held in like 17,18,19 in the diagram you posted, with just a plate and a wing nut that clamps the center.
 
Sorry Jan , must have jotted down wrong, rubber piece is 7/8 in long, 3/4 wide. Bolt is a little more than 2 in long. Hope this helps.
