Hi All....how tight does everyone gap there plugs? I gapped a new set at 32 thou....At 21 Lb's of boost i think i am blowing out the spark in one or two holes...should i tighten up to 28 thou?

I usually ran the stock plug at .035 at 20 psi boost. I would think .028 would not hirt. what plug you using?

I also run mineat .032. last week I heard about Pulstar Plugs. I checked it out, and for our cars It says to run .025 plug gap in them with the pulstar plugs. Here is the website if anyone wants to check them out. They are not cheap. Anyone heard of these, or have used these? http://www.pulstar.com/

Ac Delco Plugs.....I purchased a new coil pack/wires and plugs. I was very disappointed with the Delco wires and coil pack.....Three of the wires were almost long enough to wrap around the motor..Granted they were from a GN...but there inst that much of a difference between the two car lines. I also didn't like the look of the coil pack either...for sure not what new Delco's use to look like (off shore crap).

I have the car tuned for 21 Lb's of boost (T66BB); I have only made a couple of hard pull's but it seems like i am getting a flame out in one or more cylinders..Seem's like the car is missing and the boost will flutter at about 16 lbs of boost (only did it once out of three pull's)...If I ease up on the throttle the car picked up and pull's again.

I know that historically these motors never like "Gimmick" spark plugs (AKA Split Fire) or any of the higher end platinum plugs. Back in the day i did use a set or two of the Delco Rapid fire plugs in my GN (they were free); I think i still have a few sets for a GN in the garage, But i didn't continue with them..I always went back the the R42TS's or CTS's.

E3 seems to be the latest marketing rage; We just took that line on at work. I saw Pulstar at Sema last year but never stopped at the booth as our fancy at the time was for E3....I do have a meeting with Pulstar in St Louis in a couple of weeks and i will hear the pitch then and learn more about their product.

Anyone use the E3's or Pulstar plugs in their TTA's or GN's? Or is it just the good old stand by Delco plugs or the auto-lite/NGK equivalent?

You're not getting "flame out", you've got another issue and no gimmicky spark plugs will help.

A tight .032 is enough to support 30+ psi. It's my experience that the the tighter I go, like around .028 the more trouble I have.

Run a tight .032 and forget about it. I run cheap NGK TR5's with no issues.

I've pegged my 3 bar MAP and don't have spark blow out.

I suspect the new Delco coil pack....I wasn't proposing a gimmick plug to cure the issue i have seen...I was just wondering if anyone has tried the latest craze in gimmick plugs......

James I have another coil pack if you want to do a swap test and see if it really is the coil pack that is your problem.

Also I had boost flutter with AC Delco plugs and then I got NKG and no problems gapped to 30.

Hi Jarred--Thanks for the offer--I think i'll pick up some Ngk's or Autolites and i'll take you up on that offer if it doesnt get resolved. I sold Ac Delco products for
years---but now that i have been away from the hard parts for 8 ish years......I am beginning to wonder about GM
We need to hook up out at the track one of these weekends also:yes:

by the way your engine bay is lookin tight!! I really like the heat shield shower cap thing over the turbo, I had never seen that before, looks awsome, where did you get that??

Yup, Jason nailed it...That's the piece. I knew i wanted to keep the stock shield off the car....So i thought i would try the hear barrier by DEI; plus i wanted to give feed back to our sales people at work on the product...I am happy with it so far.....I took the brackets off for the heat shield...I just forgot the two tabs on the turbo...If i keep the factory heat shield off i will have to pull the turbo off to get those two mounting holes off the turbo. We will see if i can keep the boost under control without porting the exhaust housing...If not i'll pull the turbo off to do both. The wastegate puck on the Jim Dunn pipe is huge and will allow a tone of porting if it's needed.....But i also might go with a external boost controller...I haven't decided yet.....Still need to buy a chromed up pipe and i also would like to polish the alt or buy a unit from Tuff Stuff.....Then i'll start cleaning up the bottom of the motor.
