Spoiler Issues

I recently purchased a spoiler from Hawks and am having a really hard time fitting it.

I know what you are going through. I bought two years ago for two of my project cars and just got around using one of the spoilers last year. Both of the spoilers I got from Hawks are sh?t! They both are too narrow where the glass meets the metal hatch,almost like the spoiler wasn't wide enough and the third brake light mounting inserts are out of location. One of them is even warped about two inches. Total junk in my opinion,at least the two that I received. From your pic it looks like the spoiler needs to come back quite a bit. That little ledge on the bottom should be close the the metal hatch. From what I have read they all need some fitting but the two I received were just way out. Hopefully you can get yours close and if not you could send it back and ask for another one. I would of sent mine back but it was two or three years before I finally went to use one. You also might want to check if your third brake light is going to line up.

Why can't they test fit these before they ship them out? Seems like a no brainer!

There are other companies that make that rear spoiler but I have not tried any others besides the one from Hawks. I know for a fact if I need another one I will be trying a different vendor or looking for a GM one that isn't crap but they are really hard to find.

I spent 15 hours and built it up with fiberglass. I’ll post pics of the result. What a pain in the ass!

The pic you posted is not on the deck correct ( op), not sure why you guys are having so many problems but i have bought and installed 5 of these spoilers, one from Classic ind. and 4 from hawks and the Classic was by far the worst..granted there was zero fun factor with any of them but alot of deep breaths and a few beer breaks i made them work, hopefully the QC has not went to sh*t in the last few yrs since i bought one... btw you have to pull them at the tips to make it reach both sides, just dont yank the hell out of it and it won't break.
