STAGE II TTA - almost done!

I thought that there was a clearance issue on the passenger side of the car, and that's why guys swap over to a AC delete heater box when running Buick engines in Third Gens. We have FWD heads on our cars for this reason

Well, I don't know anything about that. This car had A/C on it when I bought it. I have taken it off because I will never use it and I don't like how it clutters up the engine bay. I took it off in a way that it can go right back on if I ever sell the car.

I will put the silver canister back in there (I capped it) because I like how it looks, but there is no clearance issue whatsoever with these heads. So, I don't know what to tell you. Sounds like urban legend to me that gets spread across the intrawebs by those who have never actually done it themselves but think they know how it all works. I've run into alot of those types on the web as I'm sure you have, too.

Here's another angle for you...

The difference is that you won't be able to fit a downpipe down the stock way. Take some pics of the downpipe setup!!

True. I'm running mine forward and down through a hole where the water overflow tank used to sit. Underneath it will do a '90 back into the exhaust. An electric exhaust dump has been fabricated under there as well for full open exhaust off the turbo. I'll post up some pics of that next week. Its pretty trick. You'll notice a smaller aluminum water canister on the passenger fender. This replaces the factory one for me.

Few questions...

What rear are you going to run? I really doubt a 12 bolt will last long! Are you sticking with the 255/50/16 MT DR's?

And what is the deal with the exhaust? I see a 3" back but what is the smaller pipe that enters the 3"? Temporary?

Thanks Jason

The rear end has good Strange parts in it so I'll run it until it breaks. If I have to put a Ford 9inch in it I will, but I really don't think I'll have to. This car will be mostly street driven and cruised, grudge raced occasionally.

I've got a couple of ideas on the wheels. I will probably buy a set of Weld magnums with the gold centers for that drag race look which I really like. The other idea I have it to widen the stock rears by 1 inch and run those 295/55-16 Hoosier drag radials. I'm not sure yet.

There is a 5inch down pipe right off the turbo, it '90s down through a hole in front of the wheel well. It necks down into 3inch pipe and then expands to 4inch all the way out.

That is an incredibly sweet build! Nice work, can't wait to hear what it runs!

Thanks. We'll see come spring time. Hey, I see you're a Yupper! I live near Detroit. We love going to the U.P. in the summers!

Got some more done over the weekend. Here's a few more pictures of the more completed engine bay, exhaust dump fabrication, etc... Will probably rewire the car this winter, but going to get it running today.

Lol, Jason is just giving you crap for having the bold marker bragging about it. The rest of us have to guess on ours ;-)

Keep the pictures coming, we all love seeing them. That downpipe/intercooler piping is beautiful!

Here's a few more... AMS 1000 boost controller hidden in center arm rest:dirol:

Original engine and trans came with the car. Both have 8k miles on them.

A few more pictures of the original stuff that came with the car. Thankfully, the original owner kept this stuff even after doing many of the mods on the car... original spark plug wires, turbo, shield, hoses, catalytic converter, etc...

Made some pulls today on a local Mustang dyno on just 93octane pump gas...no methanol, etc...

So, with 14lbs of boost the car made 630rwhp, but then it ran out of fuel. We will be changing the fuel pump soon. Car just would not keep the pressure up there when we started turning up the boost and went dead lean.

So, that's where it is for now until we change the pump. Then I'll put some race gas in the tank and really turn it up.

BTW, the car was tuned and running before I bought it, but it had a solid roller in it. I put a hydraulic roller in it. Interestingly, the numbers aren't far from where the solid was at this point.
