Struts for rear hatch...

They are shipped in a cardboard box and individual in a plastic slip in container. By the way mine are holding up great, with no problems. Since they come in a cardboard box, I ordered 2 and mine were this way. You might be able to check them in as check in luggage someway, that is if they dont charge you too much. If they could be compressed it would probably be 10 to 11 inches shorter.

Was afraid they would be the full extended length ... I'll have to see what I can do then ... thanks for confirming.
 
So ordered a pair and got them shipped to the UK ... just installed them today .. StrongArm 4954 .. Made in the USA ... perfect fit and hatch moves up and down like new again.

Quick project, make sure you support the hatch fully open then do one side at the time ... first remove screw the top, 8 mm hex head (so hatch side not the body side) first then the other end .. install the other way around.
 
Great, I am glad you got them, they worked great for me too. Just curious, did you have a helped hold the heavy rear hatch up for you while you installed them?

I just used the tube that the struts came in to support the side I was working on .. worked fine for me. A helper holding it up is the other option ... but don't think it will hold up with just one of the 2 struts unless they are brand new and you have the glasfiber spoiler on yours (I do and with a new struts on there one of them actually holds the hatch up on its own).

I got the old rubber orig spoiler on mine. I had too let a neighbor hold it up.
