Individuals who pay income taxes would get up to $600, working couples $1,200 and those couples with children an additional $300 per child under the agreement. Workers who make at least $3,000 but don't pay taxes would get $300 rebates.

** I think soon we will see 4 percent mortgages. Time to refinance to a 10 year. So sweet. One way to make money in this sub prime mess.

** Lock up your CD's. When the rates drop so do CD's. I am currently locked in a 5.25 annually for 4 more years.

Take care guys.

So has this been passed/approved? I'm going to get $600 when?
Is that a round-about estimate? Is that in additon to my regular tax return?

Yes you will get 600 bones in addition to your tax return.

WASHINGTON - With unprecedented speed and cooperation, Congress and the White House forged a deal Thursday to begin rushing tax rebates of $600 to $1,200 to most tax filers by spring, hoping they will spend the money just as quickly and jolt the ailing economy to life.

Individual taxpayers would get up to $600 in rebates, working couples $1,200 and those with children an additional $300 per child under the agreement. In a key concession to Democrats, 35 million families who make at least $3,000 but don't pay taxes would get $300 rebates.

Yeah, I turned on the radio after work going to the store and heard about it on a talk radio show.
I had no idea, I hadn't heard about it at all yesterday. I'm not spending it though, sittin on it...slowly buy lobster tails and beef tenderloin for the grill over a period of time. I' won't help the economy. Sorry.:boxed:

$600? Hmmmmm maybe new AR-15 for work, then I 'll write it off:) OOPS wrong board, I meant to say, hello new injectors and fuel pump!:cool1:

Certainly not a Colt for $600, but it goes quite aways towards owning one.

Nope! No Colt for $600, although a co worker did just win a Colt Pre ban CAR-15 for $789 on Gun Broker. I should be able to find an Off brand for around the same $$$, I might even get lucky and find a colt. I live in NY and we still have that ridiculous assault weapons ban, so I need to spend even more to get a pre- ban. The only way I see around that is to write the State Police to see if I can get a exemption because of my job. We carry Colt M-4's and We need to remain proficient in order to keep working, so that is where the tax write off comes in, as long as the tax rebate comes in time. How much of the cost could I write off? Say on a $900 rifle. Some guys at work say they wrote 100% of theirs off. This way I get both the AR and the goodies for the TTA:)

I got my Bushmaster for $895.
That was the cheapest AR I've seen in awhile.
I bought my SP1 way before the ban.
I have since modded it.
That's why I moved out here to Arizona, you can wear a gun pretty much anywhere, and in public.
When the druggies hit the house across the street, I wore my Colt .45 in plain sight for about 2 weeks.
They got the idea.
Now, they are all sittin in jail somewhere.
It's all open area out here, and you can just drive for miles off road, and shoot away.
So far, everyone I have met is real nice, and everyone is very aware of what's going on around you.
I have been toying with picking up the new FN 2000.
Looks pretty nice, and you can hold it one handed, as it's a Bullpup design.
But being over 2 grand is what's holding me back right now.
I've been accessorizing my Bushmaster lately. ;)
This is what I spend money on when I'm not buying TTA stuff. ;)

:beach:

This governmental kick-back is B.S. $600 bucks isn't going to do jack shit except put us further in debt. It's not going to save houses, it's going to pay overdue heat bills from the damn winter! :furious:

Okay, now that I have that off my chest.....whew.

I bought my pre-ban Colt A2, NIB and unfired, about a year or more after the now sunsetted assault rifle ban of '94. Paid an even $1K, taxes and all. Not too shabby considering the same gun was fetching $1500 in 1993.
I went to a small (20 table) show and this vendor had had enough and was giving up his FFL and getting out of the business. He was happy just to get rid of it. And I was happier to have it.

lol. Money is going to go back to China.

I would have to agree. How much of the stuff we buy is manufactured in China? So the government sends us $600 to go and spend on something to boost economy, we go out to Wal-Mart, where 99.99% of the merchandise is made in China, who we helping? us or our Communist enemy:jason::kissass: I 'll bank it for a rainy day, dump it into one of my cd accounts or buy the AR. Buy the way how many of us are into firearms? we should have a section for that on the board as well. I'm on AR-15 .com too, but there are so many people on that, and not all are as friendly as here

Dang nobody is married??? $1200 for couples and $300 for my kid=$1500 for me. Wife probably won't let me blow that on the car but gimme time!
