THE ORIGINAL GMC SYCLONE STORY

Was that guys name Ken Ford??? lol The dealer incentive for the TTA was mark them up 5 to 9K from sticker and they had a hard time selling them. That's why they did all this for the Syclone I bet... so they didn't get stuck with inventory like the TTA's!

Ken Ford I believe is right. And I guess GM learned their lesson after the TTA. So some of the TTAs sold they didn't get what they wanted for them! :D

Just like the TTA was, way ahead of their time.

Don't really have a favorite here, just like them both.

For the TTA I'm not sure as the engine was on it's last limp and production line had to be opened again for the TTA and we were lucky 1 of the lines had not yet been converted over to the 3800 production or we would never have had our TTAs. So more of luck to get the "old" technology before Buick had ramped up the "new" technology (read 3800) at the time.

They did have a 3800 (either supercharged or turbo charged can't remember at the moment) at a later stage in the grey GTA (1987 model year that Bill Owen got to build that Tom Goad gave him brand new) they played with at the time ... and apparently that one was smooth and what they should really have built if possible.

Why was there such an incentive for sales people to sell these things?

Quick sale :beach:

Marketing/sales platform ... get them out there and visible sooner rather than later to help promote the regular GMC trucks as well as get people "excited" and into the showrooms selling the full range of GMC trucks?
