THIS IS A MUST READ!!!! REGARDING DIE-CAST TTA....>>>

I recieved this email today.....

I am a Texas dealer for GMP Products. I have been trying to get them to do a '89 Turbo TransAm for the last year. They did do the Buick Grand National as I suggested, but not too hot on the TransAm.

Today I talked with the Marketing Rep for Lane Collectibles. He is going to see the GM Marketing people next week. I talked to hom about Lane doing the car. He thought it might be something they could do themselves. They would have the availability to get the engine mold from GMP and make the car cost less than doing a new engine mold.

I suggested to him doing at least 8 cars. These are the suggested cars at the present.

1989 Turbo TransAm - T-Top car with Leather interior
They would use a simulated vinyl
to cover the seats in the car.

1989 TransAm GTA - T-Top car with Leather seats. Color
would be based on the top 4 colors
produced at the factory.

1989 Turbo TransAm - T-Top car with Cloth seats.
They would use a simulated cloth
to cover the seat in the car.

Alternate again with a GTA car. The do the hardtop version with the leather seats and then the cloth seats.
In between these cars would be another GTA car or maybe a Firehawk.

I need you to get some input through your website to see how Lane needs to talk to the GM Merchandise group.
I talked to him about doing 2500 of each car for a total of 20,000 cars produced. Need to tell him something next Tuesday if possible.

This would be great, this is what everyone has been waiting for.

What scale should be discussed, I would say a larger size like 1/32 or so.

Fo my self I own a TTA T-top leather so of course that would be the one I would go for but to be hounest all combinations should be avalible (leather t-top, cloth t-top, leather hardtop and cloth hardtop) I would buy at least one of each.

Also I would like to see the Indy stickers and of course the correct emblems on the cars.

Best Regards

Count me in for 2 - T-Tops with cloth. It would be cool if they could do a special cars with our build number somewhere on the car. Like #56 of 1555 cars produced.

Ordering serialized based on build number would be great! I would order on of each. 1/24 to 1/18 scale is prefered.

I would kill for a T-top leather one, if we could get em numbered too that would be sick. But i think 1/24 is the size to go with, and of course full decal too.

George, I will foward you the address and you can contact him.. Thanks Man...
I will also let him know that you are going to handle this...

Also anyone on the TTA E-Mail List.. I know UFFE is on it. Can you do me a favor and send out a Mail letting the people on the list know about whats going on in here with the Models. I would like to get a huge list together, to send to this Guy so he knows WE ARE ALL SERIOUS! And we can finally get what we all have been wanting for quite some time!

Thanks Guys

Count me in for half a dozen or so.

You know I couldn't just buy one! 1:18 scale would be preferred, especially if they are going to take advantage of engine from the GMP GNs. Numbered would be cool, cloth or leather with T-tops. If they came out with different combinations I would buy at least one of each.

Count me in for a few!!! (and I don't even have a TTA
biggrin.gif
) I think you should use the comparison between the GMP '87 GN to this TTA idea. GN owners/admirerers waited forever to have a nice detailed diecast GMP finally did one and look at the response!! Not only from the owners BUT from general diecast collectors. I KNOW these (TTAs) will be a sellout and I hope we can be the first ones to get a shot at picking them up.

oO and decaled would just add the finishing touch.

Please LMK all the details
Dave

I'd take 10 or so....NO I am not buyin more cars...hmmm lemme refraze that ...I am not buyin any more TTA's (at the moment)

It would be really cool if they offered numbered cars to owners with corresponding numbers first. The numbers past 1555 would be for sale to the public.

I too have talked to GMP in the past about
these cars. Hopefully, they would go with
1/18th scale (1/24th has already been done as a plastic kit). 1/18th would also lend itself well to the engine deal with GMP.
They would have to change the heads and
a few other things, but would probably still
be cheaper than a new mold.
Count me in for a couple if this actually
happens.

I too would be greatly interested in a die cast model. I think 1/24 is the right scale. I have a t-top/cloth car so would be interested in at least one of these. I think it should have the decals and the emblems also to make it a true TTA.

Count me in also for a T-top leather TTA. The bigger the scale the better. Car number #609 with decals.

What kind of price tag would this be?

Pete (20-psi)

I'd be interested depending on price of course. I would want both a t-top leather and a hardtop-leather. I was contacted a few years ago by some company that was already producing 1/24th scale diecasts and would have both my TTA's but wanted around $125 each. I may still be able to find this information somewhere. I was planning to purchase them but have never had the "extra" money to spend on them. there have always been bigger priorities (383, apartment, etc.). keep us posted, Kyle

I WOULD DEFINATELY BUY ONE IF THEY DO A T-TOP 1/18 SCALE. I ALREADY HAVE THE 1/18 SCALE GRAND NATIONAL AND GNX DIE CAST IN MY COLLECTION.THIS WOULD BE GREAT. JUST DO IT.

Snakeskinner,
Find that 1/24 scale company info. I'm interested right now!! I also think 1/8 would be fantastic1

I'd be interested in a t-top/leather car. It would be nice if they really could match the build numbers.
