It's almost noon here in Sunny San Diego. I'm the only member on the board, and there are 14 guest lurking.

How can we get this place pumped up...like these guys...:chat:
 
I know, I have also thought about this as well. Kinda depressing just knowing there are so few of our cars left in existence. And well, people just don't know about them, yet. I guess eventually it's going be sorta like archeology, eventually these cars will be rediscovered. lol
 
I used to think about the board the same way you do, then I realized that of the owners that are "web active" just a small percentage of them tinker with their cars, whether it be restoring, detailing or racing. When you estimate that small percentage, then the typical activity of this board makes sense.

AND! I've lost count of the number of newbies that buy a TTA and go all out for posting then disappear into the background after 6 months ....sooner than later their TTA's come up for sale.

very, very few like me, continue to hang around after we have sold our cars.....I just like it here....TTA owners are vastly different than a typical 3rd gen owner.

I can understand this. I've been hanging out at Turbobuick.com for the last 12-13 years. I owned 13 of those cars, built, raced them all. Then I came across this one. Quite honestly, I wish I would have bought one years ago. I've always know about them, and have a boost addiction for both. No other cars suit me except for these and my Hummer H2. I've owned 3 of those. I stick to what I know, and like the most.

Like you said, people come and go. Luckily for me, like yourself, I'm sure I will be around here for a very long time too.
 
Yeah i haven't counted but there are probably less than fifty people that post on a regular basis... Hell i don't think half of the cars are accounted for, but on the bright side there are few things that this small group don't know about TTA's...
 
I joined here in 2010 when I bought my car. I dont race, just basically drive it a couple hundred miles a season, so it doesnt really need worked on either. So I dont post a lot because I really have nothing to report. If I do post some pictures, the car basically looks the same as it did the last time. lol

But I do like this forum, it seems to be mostly void of the drama that is on the bigger forums. No internet jockeys to ruin our fun! Well, I think some of the long time members can remember a few incidents with a certain person, but that is old news.
 
Is there anywhere that would show the # of active members?
As noted, with only1500 cars the cast is not exactly endless.
In any case, this is a great spot.

I met a couple of other owners at the TA nationals who have bunches of other cars (to complement their tta?), seems as though those types of folks are less likely to be very involved on a specific forum such as this?

I know what you mean. So why don't we do a current post and see who is still around? On this note; Ive learned something new about my car every day. And know there is so much more to learn. It's defiantly a different beast compared to the Turbo Buick's that I am so accustomed too. Next thing on my agenda is to drop the gas tank, and install a double pumper.... I'm already feeling like this :wall: and I haven't even started yet. Ahhhhhh!
 
I've been a member of this board for about 13 years according to the dilly bob over to the right, and this place used to be super dead back then, it's quit active now compared to then :) There is no drama on here to speak of, only remember the one guy that bought some super modified built TTA and made all the claims and name calling…he didn't last long. Nothing like on the LT1/LS1 boards, got to where I didn't even go there for help…thank God I don't own the LT1 TA anymore :) Sometimes it's nice to be a little quiet.

Jim Dunn replaced the 90s-era @bort!on "double" fuel pumps on #545 last month. He said that it is a tough job even with a lift...

I like it here too! It's nice not to have the drama that we find on the larger sites. It's informative and I've even scored a couple parts!
I love pics and that is my only complaint. They all look the same. Boo Hoo!

I noticed that there isn't any drama, and being such a small community is a huge benefit. So if it starts, I'm sure it gets squashed like a bug. We did have quite a few drama queens over on TB.com, they were dealt with swiftly. The down fall they usually got two or three warnings before getting kicked off the sight.

Rob, your GN is stout. It really is awesome going that fast on stock internals. I had a 86 TType that went 98mph with just bolt on. I'm trying to get my TTA to this level now. I just recently did a couple more mods and bet it will do 7.1-7.2 @ 97-98mph next time out. I like calling my shots. Being retired out of the Marine Corps after 21 years, I've always set my achievements hi, no matter what I want to accomplish.

Lol, thanks man. I have a buddy locally that has a GN, and has owned several third generation Camaro's over the years. Guess who I will be soliciting to help with Pizza, and Coca Cola. :thumbup: Really though, he already said he'll give me a hand with it anyhow. I've helped him on a couple occasions with his GN, but it was nice of him to offer to help me with my car. It defiantly will make my life easier in the end.

As a newbie to the TTA and this forum, I hope that most of my initial posts which will be questions, will be acceptable. I'm not new to Gen 3s, but the TTA is so special that researching all the things that makes it special is no small job.

My plan is to keep #191 somewhere between a garage queen and a daily driver (my collector car insurance allows me 7,500 miles/year!), and I want to bring it back to stock as much as possible.

So thanks in advance to anyone of the ~50 or so (LOL) regular posters here for your help and collegiality!
 
These cars are pretty simple as long as you leave them close to stock but very unforgiving when you modd and push them to the limit, so you should have a fairly easy time with yours considering your goals... Welcome to the forum !

Robert I remember that as well. One of a few crazy times on here.
Hey this is a great forum for the TTA owners and people interested in our cars. Don't worry about it getting slow on here as it picks up from time to time.
I know I got a lot of help from the TTA owners on here when I first got mine. I am like a few on here, don't get to drive it much because my schedule. But when I do drive it, what a blast!:thumbup:

Thank you for your service! Have a son-in-law going on 11th year out of Ft.Bragg.
The key to getting great performance out of any motor, stock or otherwise is to take baby steps and ALWAYS monitor it for knock, knock gauge, scan master, direct scan, whatever and pull out at the sign of any KR.
The GN will get a few shake downs tomorrow at the Muscle Car Club Challenge.
