I just got a 44mm wastegate from Tial. Does anyone have pictures of one installed on the Buick G N or TTA. I am not sure on the set up.

more than likely you have an external wastegate so you will need a custom downpipe that has ability to use it. Basically the external gate replaces the stocl puck and push rod system. Youre going to be looking at around $1000 for a downpipe.

Is it better to run the dump part of the waste gate into the down pipe. Or is it better not?

Usually they run into the down pipe, but I did try a early turbonetics turbo in 91 that had a delta gate option. So I got a Turbonetics deltagate . I don't think 3"DP were available then, or if they were I didn't know of any. So I had a specific pipe that ran from the wastegate EX out down to the ground and then he bent the pipe back to exit hot exhaust. It took us about 4 hours to make it. Funny thing was that on the way to the muffler house, I had to keep out of the boost or the blowoff would have melted the heat blanket if the wastegate opened. The whole combo sucked though, I later learned that this generation turbo was a piece of total shit for the stockish 3.8 Buick. It was an early "Cheetah", google it...most everyone at the buick meet said it was way too big for a stock motor, needed way ported heads and unstreetable stall speed & stroker 4.1...BIG mods to make it work. Early tech I guess. The word then that was just spreading was "TA-49", which has been proven to be a great turbo on a stockish motor combo. I put the stocker back on pretty quick and ran faster with a simple stock actuator on a stock turbo and DP (with a 3"cut-out)

Many folks are running low 11's high 10's on stock type actuator/wastegate these days, maybe even faster on alky.
