Timing Chain

Monitor your oil pressure with the gauge on the dash. Know what your baseline is and watch for any changes. Should be high when the car is cold and come down a bit when warmed up. Oil pressure is higher at throttle than idle. Since you are having work done-invest in a scanmaster, then you get real time readings and it is a great tool for monitoring your car.

I'm no expert at mechanical stuff, but I always glance at my gauges and scanmaster when driving. I know what the cars readings were when I bought it, and like I said that is your baseline. Any potential problems that are soon to arise, I would think you would have some changes in your dash gauges or scanmaster readings.

Personally, I wouldnt change or replace things that are functioning correctly. If it aint broke, dont fix it.

Hope this helps.

The cooling fan issue I've talked about before. Had the sensor and motor replaced and found out at Scott Kelly's talk they Re supposed to run after driving to cool dngine down.
Two issues: I just turned the car on and within no more than 5 minutes turned it off and the cooling fan still ran. No way the engine was hot.

Second issue - coming back from reunion stopped to get gas after about 20 minutes of driving. Back on highway and shortly stuck in stop and go traffic as far as the eye could see. Car temperature started climbing to 200 and no sign of stopping going up. Husband ahead of me and we has walkie tLkies and he told me to shut off AC and roll down windows put it in neutral and give it some gas. Did all yhat and temp stopped climbing but stayed around 200. when we started moving it did come down yo where it usually is maybe a tiny bit higher. I am phobic about engines overheating and car fires. Had 1991 Trans Am catch on fire (son driving not hurt).
why would the temp go up so fast so quick in stop and go traffic? Why would cooling fan run whrn just starting then turning off car?
Thanks

webber racing sells new timing covers with oil pumps and that is what I have and am very pleased. Just like kymmee said monitor your oil pressure with the dash gauge and be sure it goes up 10 psi for every 1000 rpm. Remember what the oil pressure is at hot idle and it should always be the same, if it falls suddenly at random there is a problem. This happened in my corvette and it turned out to be a bad gauge. It also happened to my tta and the problem was the motor.

As for your over heating I would open the rad cap when the car is cold and not running and see how much coolant is in there. Be sure that it is full. I bought a stock replacement rad and it keeps my car cool all the time hot outside temps and lots of boost I don't feel the need to get an aftermarket expensive radiator. The rad fans also have a fuse be sure that is not blown, I was fooled by that one time. the car would over heat and then when I started driving it was fine, then at a light it would over heat!!!
