timing gear replacement

How many of you guys replaced the stock aluminum nylon coated cam gear with another stock aluminum nylon coated gear? is there any truth to the stock aluminum nylon coated gear being made to be quieter for the knock sensor to operate. Engine is stock

Replace it with a double roller timing chain from TA Performance. It will not affect the knock sensor, and it will save the motor vs the nylon gears

I see TA also sells a steel replacement. What is the benefit of a double roller compared to the steel stock replacement.

There's some pro's and con's of both. I've heard folks say a double roller is not necessary....some say it's better. If you use a roller chain set up, you have to remove your chain tensioner rubber block. It'll chew it up in 2,000 miles.
I went with the steel replacement flat chain and tensioner installed...works perfectly fine.

Either one is better than the nylon gear setup. Stock steel replacement used to be the way to go mainly because the spring pressures on these cars are nothing unless you have a roller cam. Also why lots of folks say a doubler roller is overkill.
