someone gave me an idea today and i wanted to pass it by u guys see what ya think...i was told to put the 85-87 trans am eagle on the hood...in gold the stencil designed eagles...opinions!!!

Might be out of place on outside of the TTA, just my .02c... BUT As a gold stencil on the underside of the hood (like on a custom under hood cover) the gold scream-in turbo chicken would look good. That way at the car shows when your showing off the awesome detailed engine, you got the bird right there too..

It's been done before I think twice that I've seen. There was a TTA on ebay a while ago someone put the bird on the hood. Looked ok but I wasn't crazy about it. I'll have to see if I can find the pictures of it and post it up.

IMO, it wouldn't look right on the car. Didn't look great on any of the 3rd gen cars. Leave 'em for the 2nd gens.

Personally I wouldnt do it. My car has no Indy decals on the doors, nor the Pontiac banner on the front windshield. I prefer the car with just the badges. Might look ok if you dont have all the decals,(I think you have them) but IMO with the door decals and the hood bird would make the car too "busy" and take away from the clean lines.

I ordered a blue/silver '85 TA with the silver outlined bird on the hood sight unseen. I never thought the proportions fit the car well.

I like the last one from Car Motorsports, but its kinda pricey & the bird is a little too small by the picture. If the turbo bird was bigger & the hood insulator was a little cheaper I would jump on it. Anybody here have one to comment on if they like it or not?

Car Motorsports - GTA Underhood Insulators

I have that hood insulation and my up pipe or plenum or my something got too hot and melted it a bit?? now it kinda looks shabby, but I have not taken it off, still is kinda cool.

I have a carmotorsports insulator on my 25th. I think it looks good for the $$$.

Finally found the pics of the TTA with the bird on it Dom! Only took me forever go figure! :teehee::teehee::teehee: It's also got some funky pinstripe on it. I think it just gives it to much of a trans am look and looses that TTA look. :coffee:

You decide...

WOW ... .that is a VERY busy looking car, they did the decals neatly, but personally I think it's too much, I have the decals on my car(came with them on) and sometimes I think it is too much. Especially when giving her a power polish and wax job !!!

Too busy looking, hard to detail. Looses tta look.

I'm actually surprised you don't see more like this that one. That was the thing to do back in the mid to late 80's and even into the early 90's. You bought a car and had it pinstriped. I knew several friends who had their own pin-striping company in a van that rolled around and just put pinstripes on cars from new and used car dealers to private homes. The guys were busy 7 days a week too!

jim your the man lolll...those botton stripes looked like the ones on my 84 t/a...i love pinstripes i haven em on the iroc but honestly the tta looks much clraner with nuthn on it im not crazy bout the eagle on it either good thing i saw this before i put one on!

call me crazy but im actually liking the decals and the bird is growin on me to...thanks alot jim hahaha more money down the tube hahaha does neone else on here have those stripes?

They still do'nt know what it is.:DontGetIt:
Exactly, last drive I did with my car, was getting some gas to get ready for storage and a guy pulls up next to me and says "Nice GTA, I used to have one of those, but it was red." I said its a "Turbo Trans Am." He says "Oh."

haha kymmee thats everyones reaction...but i get this more than nethng...hey nice gta...its not a gta its a turbo trans am...and there response..."huh" then i usually ten minutes of my life explaining the car lol

I would not devaluate the car.
My opinion.
However, there are tons of GTA/Trans Am hoods everywhere (I have a few spares myself, just not white), so I would suggust getting a spare, painting it white, and using that hood for the hood bird.
that way, you just undo 4 bolts, and swap them out.
Who knows, everyone may think you have two cars. ;)
As for the striping, I am up in the air on that one.
I must say, I have never seen any striping around the rear spoiler like that.
Maybe I'll get another thirdgen Trans Am in black, and do a Special Edition (Smokey And The Bandit) looking job on it. ;)
I have done some small mods to my car.
I put blue dot (old 50s Hot Rod thing) in my third brake light lens.
With a spare lens, so just 2 screws, and it's back to normul.
I also put "white dots" in the center of the lug nut caps, to look like late 60s GTOs and early Firebird red/black dots that were on the chrome lug nuts.
Again, these were spares, as I have 100s of them (yes, I am a crazy with things like that ;) ).

My take,

George :beach:
