Toluene added to gas...

Toluene is a very safe choice because it is one of the main octane boosters used by oil companies in producing ordinary gasoline of all grades. Thus if toluene is indeed harmful to your engine as feared, your engine would have disintegrated long, long ago since ordinary pump gasoline can contain as much as 50% aromatic hydrocarbons.

Toluene is a pure hydrocarbon (C7H8). i.e. it contains only hydrogen and carbon atoms. It belongs to a particular category of hydrocarbons called aromatic hydrocarbons. Complete combustion of toluene yields CO2 and H2O. This fact ensures that the entire emission control system such as the catalyst and oxygen sensor of your car is unaffected. There are no metallic compounds (lead, magnesium etc), no nitro compounds and no oxygen atoms in toluene. It is made up of exactly the same ingredients as ordinary gasoline. In fact it is one of the main ingredients of gasoline.

I was told adding Toluene to your 93 Octane gas gave 18 lbs. boost w/ 3-4 degress knock with Red Armstrongs older 93 chip. The mix was 11:2. I was told by a excellent tech and racer in my area. Same guy uses Razor's kit now along w/ FAST system, TE66 BB turbo, 83lb inj. external wastegate, yada yada yada. He is running 28 lbs boost w/ 0 knock.

I've been meaning to ask about this stuff and was glad to read it. But I am curious about where to buy it and what ratios is it used. Also any negative affects?

Negative? you play chemist. hard on rubber components and dont spill it on the fuel fill entry area...

Have you tried it yet Joe?:read:

No, I was informed by a friend with a 10 sec Turbo Regal of this octane booster. He told me people have been using it for years. I am not brave enough. I just ordered Razor's alky kit. I am exicited!!! Can't wait to install. Got a great deal on the kit and Julio was wonderful. After all of my questions he reminded me that his kit was designed on HIS TTA :) . That was great the know. Take care. Joe

Awesome man!!!!!

I used to run Xylene before I went to alky.

1 gallon Xylene
3 gallons 93 octane
1 oz of Marvel Mystery Oil

Yields about 99 octane. Did that for quite awhile since I had bought a 55 gallon drum of the stuff from Duron Paint.
