I have a friend in upstate NY who is awesome with the 200r4's. I will pm you his phone number if you would like.

That guy was the last one who re-did the transmission (CK Transmission) for me and did a terrible job in my opinion .... which is why im going to end up needing another rebuild because the tranny is on its way out ... its does not shift firm ... it doesnt want to shift in most cases when under full throttle not even if u let off the throttle a little to make it shift !... the rear main seal is leaking like crazy and making my garage floor a mess it has me going nuts ! :mad2: .....Jp112 89 ill give that guy Phil a call and see where it goes from there .....
Thanks guys for your help i appreciate it ..... Mitch

There is a guy in the GN club here in Alberta who got a CK tranny and it needs to be rebuilt for $1200 at Campbells automotive. THis is after he got it from CK and did not even run it in his car, just installed it, then turned the engine on and heard marble like sounds, so he shut it off and took it out and to Campbells. He then does not even want it!!! He told me I could have it if I was willing to pay the $1200 for Campbells to fix it.

I did not buy it. I chose to call Bruce Tolle and get one of his trannys. He is still building it and I am waiting. Big Bucks though, I sure hope it is worth it. My cousin got a tranny from Bruce for his 10 sec GN and it is still in his car. THis is after he had a local tranny guy rebuild his original tranny 8 times.

Anyways.... that is what I have heard about CK.
I will report on how Bruces Tranny does when I get it and run it next summer.

Jarred.

Art Carr TESTs his stuff on a tranny dyno, before he ships. He set up the trannys specific to what your combo, gear ratio and car weight is. He'll talk with you over the phone and he's full of knowledge about the 200 trans. I thinnk he mentioned that he owns a GN himself.

WS6 , No i never reconciled with CK because i wouldnt him to do it again ... he did give me a 2 year warrenty but im not going to bother .. right now i just want to find someone that i know is going to do a good job unlike CK . I was going to get it done at DynoTechPerformance but i heard it closed .. then opened back up then closed so im not sure what happened with them . But im going to probably start making a few phone calls tomorrow some time if not then maybe monday hopefully.

It seems, much like Doctors, everyone knows the "best one". This is true for tranny builders, engine builders, etc.

I don't know CK's work personally, or Art Carr's for that matter. But I do read great things about both of them. But I also read bad things about them too. One person whom I've never read anything bad about if Vince Janis. Not that that was the reason I chose him, but rather he was only 90 minutes from me and that has a lot of value when were talking this kind of work for this kind of money.

I must say that there is a loot of controversy about Art carr and the "real" Art carr and it's hard to wade through the non sense.

But my tranny Doctor is the best one!

Agreed, I had Vince do the work on my transmission and I've never had a problem. I pulled the tranny and took it out to him and he gave me a tour of the shop. Very nice guy and definitely knows what he's doing.

Vince is prolly the best w/ these trans.

My buddy has build several 200r4's w/ ZERO problems. He built my friends Regal w/ 455 Buick motor..heads..cam.. and he beats the fu ck out if it everyday. His 200r4 has not missed a beat in 3 years.

Thanks .. I'm diffinetly going to make a few phone calls probably by monday thanks for all your help guys i appreciate it ... I'll keep you guys updated .

Bruce @ PTS is great ! If you dont buy a trans or billet parts from him @least buy his deep pan its awsome.

tta299 how low to the ground is the pts deep pan??? I was talking to Bruce and he said the deep pan is really really low for the TTA. What do you think?

I like my Hofer tranny. Only reason I went with him was because everything is billet, I paid 2250, he shipped it to me, and there isn't a good trans shop close.

Coupled with a new converter it went from 11.6's to bottom 11's consistantly.
