TTA convertible video

Wow nice rides Lenny, like the latest addition and yes you are right I would love to see all those original markings, stickers etc ... ENJOY!!!

Lenny nice cars. I have a couple 40 year old Cadillacs that are still brand new, one with a full leather lipstick red interior.

(This paragraph is VETTE talk...so excuse me for a second here...but not going to join a vette forum to say this.)

I love the 4th gen vettes and I love red interiors. The GS has the best of the small block chevy motors. That thing did 171 miles per hour when they tested it in the car mags. Faster than the 5th gen vette with gen 3 motor I believe. Anyhow, when the 5th gen vette was tested for top speed the side windows let go around 155mph. The new GM stuff is too cheasy and cheap for my taste. Have you seen the window switches on the 5th gen vettes? They look like cell phone keys or something. And the 6th gen vettes come with vinyl seats. Real classy stuff. Love the high power new motors, the ls3 and 640hp zr1 motor, but those new plastic headlights look japanese. Much cheaper to make than the retractable (4th gen vette) ones that turn upside down to provide an aerodynamic surface on both sides! Lenny, you should get a hardtop for that GS. (you probably already have one) But if you don't, get one they make the car look incredible as a closed car.

The youtube comments were meant to be retarded. They were directed towards retards. You know, the new generation of American consumers. The ones that watch youtube looking for cool civics with large exhaust pipe extensions. But those Rav 4 comments were real. God, I wish I could have a Rav 4 soooo bad. I'd be willing to give like 10 tta convertibles to have one. I'd be so macho with one of those cars and the girls would love me and want to date me so bad. I'll bet they could do so well off road. In the commercial it showed one on top of mount everest. They must have really driven it up there. I think the US military should use Rav 4's instead of HUMVEES. I don't think a Humvee could get to the top of everest.

PHS said my ragtop is #409. Not 410. I don't know if that makes any difference or how they come up with these numbers. I don't know how phs would know the build order anyway. I thought pas did that. In the doorjam it says built by pas, doesn't it?

It's all based on VIN number sequence / order ... if you check the long list I published (at work so can't find the link at the moment) you will see how it's done and PHS done the same as they of course got the complete 1G5 VIN seuence list (we on here still miss a few or got some errors in our list hence me trying to get as many PHS confirmed numbers down as possible to help clean up the list). And yes PAS was the manufacturer and did give each car (on their documents) a sequence number but so far we don't know how they based these sequence numbers but they are there on their original files for each car .... one day I guess we will know for sure :-)

Wrong indeed.

1. Scott Kelly had a hard top but it was never converted to a convertible.
2. the first convertible was not Scott Kelly's

Perhaps the author meant Jeff Beitzel's. But even if he meant jeff beitzel's...
3. The first convertible was not Jeff Beitzel's.
4. the first convertible was not made from a hard top.

The first convert was mine AKA Chris Joseph's AKA Lenny's It sold in April 1989.
My convert was sent to ASC before it went to a dealer not after. It was ordered before there was a customer to buy it.
Jeff Beitzels car was not brought in by a dealer at all. It was a special job listed under Miscellaneous. I doubt that car was ever at a new car dealer. His company built them. After it was built he probably just paid for it and slapped a manufacturers license plate on it. He probably brought the car in to ASC himself. It seems he had a very short lead time at ASC too. Perhaps no lead time at all.
Both converts were made from t-top cars.

Hi name is Scott "Kelly" not Kelley Spell it right as he lingers on the boards here from time to time and gets pissed when people mis-spell his name! :) If you want to know all the real answers just be at the TTA reunion next year and you'll hear them all! ;)

I am sure that my car (aka Chris Joseph car aka Lenny car) came before Jeff Beitzels convertible. Mine shipped out of ASC in the first week of April 1989.

Jeff Beitzel car (aka Milton robson car aka Rich Vant Hoff car) shipped out of ASC on 6/23/89 according to ASC records. That car had t-tops before it was converted not hardtop.

ASC order forms make it clear that they only do t-top cars. To do a hardtop would be a lot more expensive.

I have paper evidence of the above information so I know it is true.

This next bit I found on the web so It might be true or it might not. I am 99% sure that :

Scott Kelly had a hardtop with white door handles.

What I am not sure about but which may be true is:

it sold on ebay recently for over $30,000. Perhaps $37,000. Had low mileage but white door handles made car look like it had a respray and someone didn't take the time to mask or remove the door handles. That car was never a convertible. Don't remember vin but a look on ebay sold items would retrieve a wealth of info and pictures including letters from Kelly on PAS stationary.
