I didn't buy mine for an investment, but if I had waited another year, I could have gotten a lot more car for the money. Oh well... I got a nice one anyway.
 
If I had money right now, I would buy several different cars including another TTA and have fun with them all. It is a buyers market and if you have cash you can get some really great deals. I am not selling mine for any money or at least I hope I never get to the point where I would have to sell it to pay bills.
 
Cars are never good investments. For some reason or another the last 6-8 years have been a fluke, driven artificially by E bay and other "Gotta Win It" auctions. Sorry but I personally would not pay $60, 80 or 100+k for a car with 1960's or '70's technology, let alone 80's. Yes I know they are nastolgic and were the "original" Muscle cars, but come on... Why would any one want to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a car with a little over 300 HP and truck like handling that gets 11 & 12mpg, when you can buy a 500+hp car that in a lot of cases handels like a slot car and gets 20+MPG for around $40 -60k? Sorry not worth that kind of $$ in my opinion. For $250k I'll buy some property that I can pass down to generations of family members instead.
 
If I had the money and the room I'd buy Robert's 2000 mile car! Something tells me I am going to regret not trying to buy that one.
 
I guess if I had a low millage car I'd try and keep it that way and drive my current 1. But I just cant grasp the idea of spending so much on a car and never enjoying it. Every time I walk out to my garage and see the thing sitting there I want to drive it. Now obviously I refrain most of the time, but that's cuz I have another fun car. But had I not purchased the G8, the TTA would be closer to 100k miles instead of 60k. That's why I like the idea of clones, you can have your cake and eat it too. I've been thinking seriously of doing a '69 T/A clone lately, right down to every last detail, not just the white paint and blue stripes. $100+k for a 1969 car is just absurd in my opinion, $20-30k alright I can understand, but a 100? come on now. I think our TTA prices are where they should be. they are affordable, yet more valuable than a regular Trans Am or Firebird of the same year. This way most people can still afford to enjoy them. Why should a car originally marketed to the middle class working man be priced so only the wealthy can afford it. These aren't Ferraris or Lamborghini's they are Fierbirds.

today everyone is selling everything cheaper ...... just wish i could hit the lotto an then go on a car buying spree 2 hard top TTA's an acouple GNX's and a MC12
 
Definitely a GNX with like 300 miles on it, then I would drive the crap out of it. Oh wait, that's if it runs after just sitting around for the last 24 years. Then I think I would invest most of it in gold and property. All kidding aside I would like a Hardtop TTA, cant stand the T-top any more, the novelty has given away to the annoying squeaks and rattles. But again cant see spending a 10 or 15K premium in value for a car that sticker cheaper than our T-top leather cars
 
1969 ta, 74 sd 455, 89tta, driven all of them, owned two of them. bang- for the buck? that goes to the sd without question. 80k to 120k? for the SD? i don't think so but i sure did love that car. maybe this economy will bring the price down enough to buy another one :crazy:
 
I also would like a '92 Firehawk with the competition package and I would use it at track days, as that's what it was built for specifically. But again most of these fine race cars sat in garages being polished instead of being thrashed on at Watkins Glen, Lime Rrock, or Road Atlanta. What a waste!:down:

Also impossible to try and find one.
 
Too much uncertainty is keeping the money in the consumers pocket. People are just not blowing money anymore.

These cars are too complex for average Joe.lol Older muscle cars are more practical and less tempermental than the TB/TTA's.

But I am waiting for a hardtop TTA then 70 or 71 Buick GS Stage 1. Or two more TTA's.

Yep I know, shoulda got the green 1 with the Rodek aluminum engine that was for sale on Auto Trader back in '06 or '07. I think Hawks wound up getting it. At the time I was getting home improvements and didn't quite have enough in the equity loan to cover it.

another nice car 71 gs455 4-sp, blue , white bucket seat, had that too, very fast

Here ya go... This is what I'm talking about, Absolutely absurd. Yes it's the show car but still, appraised @1.8 million for any '70's GM car must mean you are on drugs. Unless of course it comes with "Sharks with lasers!":D

Heck Yeah!

Buicks have always been the best riding cars. Put that Buick 455 in it and game over! 70's people were getting out of horsepower,unleaded fuels introduced... Most people dont think of Buicks as a muscle car because of the timeframe they entered. People were and still are unaware.

Buick GS Stage one is the most underrated muscle car of the 60's and 70's... I think.
 
70 SS 454 ls6's still are bringing good money ... i tried to buy a local 1 guy said 65k ... his house was worth less

i had thd that car in 1984, next best thing to the SD455 :thumbup:
 
If you are good with a '74 SD auto, there are multiple for sale right now that can be had for the low $50's and some searching can get you one in the mid $40's.

I agree with others...now is a good time to buy. Just not many others looking to spend $20+ on cars right now.

I just started following the TTA's, and I agree that the GNX looks to always be a more expensive car. However, nice, unmolested TTA's will be a car in demand for many years, I think. Like the GN's, so many have been thrashed/modded over the years.:burnrubber:
 
I agree, its a buyers market right now-cash is king. All the cars I have are not "super rare" or extremely low miles, so the way I justify things is: If I drive them around 1k a year in 15 or 20 yrs, its not gonna make much difference between 50k or 70k in the case of the TTA or the MSE, the range will be 30k or 50k, and the base car no one wants to buy anyway because its a v-6 smogger. The values are not gonna increase/decrease that much by driving them. In the meantime, I am enjoying them and hope to pass them on to my kids and hope they take me for rides when I'm in a wheelchair. lol
 
Lumarkhood - you bought that barn find GN? How did that work out? I was wondering if it cleaned up OK.
