Just seeing what type of owners are out there. From the 1,555 bulit, with the 5 preproduction cars included, we will probably never know how many are still alive. So what kind of owner are you? If we break it down in # categories, like so.....

1 - The owner that really just doesn't care, drive it till it dies, sell it for parts, it's just a car.

2 - The owner that modifies for power, the interior and exterior doesn't really matter, it's about 1/4 mile times.

3 - The owner that does bolt on performance, will do a repaint same color, likes the stock wheels, and is proud of his car.

4 - The owner that does the smallest bolt on parts, needs the original paint, documents, doesn't want alot of miles, and if need be can be returned back to original.

5- Now the owner that must have the lowest miles, if possible the factory oil still in the car, no mods, factory everything paint, tires, plugs. No rain, sleet, or snow, the owner that doesn't want direct sunlight on the car.

I would have to say I personally fall in maybe at the 2.5 to 3 mark, keeping the car the right color, but not factory, mods as many as needed, but done right. Interior replacing stock items, and adding some gauges. Love the stock wheels, and making sure interior and exterior is in top shape and taken care of.

2.5 for me too.

I would have to say I am more like you. I owned an original and sold it when I got married. Then last year I was able to shop for my time machine and bought two.

One is more stock with a few modern upgrades to the radio and fuel system, but pretty much stock and a car I take care of and take to cruise nights.

The second one is my resto-mod. It has been heavily modified for race and fun. Just about everything modded on this project code named RAYDER, my GNX tribute car. Engine has been repaired and tuned, the interior is being finished now, and GNX Black paint is next. Already has the black GNX style wheels on it. Bottom line, I love these and cars and drive them too.
 
Thanks Kman, me to I love 3th gens, I never owned a TTA til now, and this one was a race car. I to was thinking of painting this one black or like the 87' I had burgundy metallic red, but i'm going white with a little flare. But yes I like modded cars, they were meant to be enjoyed, and taken care of. Can't wait to see your car done.

I think I am a mix of 3 and 4. I would repaint to stock color, but I like documentation and low miles. I would also do bolt ons to make the car run better. I don't have any intentions of racing mine. But I also think number 5 applies to most of us in that I don't want my car in bad weather, especially snow. I put her to sleep for the winter.
 
3 or 4 maybe 5 a bit.

I've done a few bolts, heads have never been off, motor never out. But I have tried several turbos and convertors. Still has all the original interior pieces, the front tires are only the second set ever on the car.
The rears are different story. 4th set. Has Alpine stereo. I've done little changes. Since I'm the original owner I have all the original pieces boxed up and stored if I ever want it back to stock. I also replaced the wing with a new one. It cracked even though it's been garaged all it's life. The only part I don't have to go back stock is the catalytic convertor, I gutted when I was 19, then discarded for test pipe. The car has been on the track, but it hasn't been abused IMO, just enjoyed then stored. 35k on the Odometer.
32k of those miles occurred the first 5 years I owned it. I drive it maybe 20 miles a year the last 5 years.
 
It's nice to see everybodies different stance on TTA's or even in general on cars, but all here for 1 reason the love of TTA's!
 
Like you, TTAGUY, I love 3rd gens. I was 22 years old in 1982 when they came out with the new body style. They were the car to have. Have 3 of them now and overall I just like cars from the 80's. I am drawn to 'survivor" type cars, I like documentation, and stock original. Also like limited production models. I wanted a TTA because, in my mind, it is the ultimate 3rd gen to own. Although my TTA has been repainted and interior redone, I tried to keep it as stock looking as possible.

In the case of TTA 1456 (Hardtop/Cloth) #5 - The only Sunlight it sees is when it is out at Car shows.

Got to hand it to you Dave, your cars are 10x, more value then my car for sure, but man I would not be able to resist not driving them. Congrats on well taken care cars.

Mostly 3 and 4. I would repaint my car if it ever needed it, but I prefer it in original paint. I love docs. too. I like slight mods but nothing to hairy.

I'm in between 4 & 5.

I like the fact my car has low miles & being the car has been a garage queen it's entire life, I'm keeping with that trend.

For all other cars, I'm a 3 - and one day I would like to have another TTA that I could call a 3.

For TTA 733 I am a 3 and I drive it to work everyday.
My low mile cars a 5 of course.
TTA 366 has significant mods but still looks like a TTA more so now than before since I put the stock wheels back on.
 
Seems like most TTA owners have 1 or more TTA's. I would like to have another but I really think I'm going to build a Year One type Bandit, in the future, a father-son project. But it's really nice to see people with the same feelings as me about these cars, their not just transportation!
 
I am about a 4-5... I love the fact that my car only has 12,000 miles... But I would like to get another one just to have some fun with....Then I would be a 2.....with that one.. Maybe someday I will buy another one.. But right now, my father and I are going to start restoring my great grandfathers 1951 Chevy Bel Air. I have no clue what I am doing, but thank god my father does...LOL...wish me luck...

Got some new blood here including me. Been a member since APR 2010, & just got her now APR 2012.
