I paid $150 for one and it's so-so, the good one's are $400+, lava lined.

I guess it all depends what you use your car for and where you go, but a much cheaper solution is to raise the hood when you are parked and let the bay cool down. I know, not practical for everyone but works for me. I have the "Turbo" hood insulator and am always worried it will get a burn mark, but so far so good.

I thought that the insulator offered on eBay would go under the metal shield, and basically be an additional layer of heat shielding. But I guess it does not. The metal shield appears to be pretty close to the turbo as it is, so it would be hard to get anything else in between.

You can do that if you want, not sure how much of a difference it would make but you never know....:detective:

Good question, i would think as long as the motor is running the heat is going out the exhaust, but i too open the hood and let it idle a min. to cool off to minimize coking in the turbo...
