Value of a used TTA

torque2 said:
I currently own an '87 GN and am looking at buying an '89 TTA w/ 150,000 miles from the original owner. Car is complete, but needs paint and a new spoiler. Owner claims he has taken very good care of it. Asking price is $7,500. Does this sound reasonable? I'm having no luck finding values for these cars.
What does the investment future look like for the TTAs?
Thanks,
Tim

I bought a TTA at the auction (dealer only) the car had 100,000 miles on it, I paid $4000 and that was alot. I don't want to hurt anyones feelings but thats what a car of that year with those miles are worth. What you are willing to pay for it is a different story. I'd be more concerned about the motor more than the body and interior stuff... Just my .02 and I've had 3 and didn't overpay for any of em. Good Luck buddy

I am getting ready to buy an original owner TTA with 26000 miles for $16,000.00. This seems like a pretty good deal. What does anyone else think?

I am amusing it is in good condition, and if so, that is a great deal. I will always pay a little more for an original owner car. Trying to figure out what has or has not been done to the car is a PITA. Knowing prior history is great.

Yes, it is very nice and all stock. Has been in heated storage all of its life. I thought it was a real good deal. Just wanted a second opinion. Do you think this is a good investment car?

Is that the car located in Morton?? I seen it listed in the local tradin' post and thought it looked like a very resonable price. To give you a real world comparison, I paid $19,700 for mine last summer (Cloth/T-Top car). It was also purchased from the original owner, and at the time it had 9800 miles on it.

Since the car you're looking at is a one owner, definetly grab the owners kit from him. It alone would be worth $500+.

As far as an investment.....I agree with Quicky one. It is a car that won't depreciate, but not something you will turn a large profit on in the near future. My personnal expectations would be that a non-modded original should appreciate just enough to cover insurance, and maintanence cost to let you enjoy it for "Free" over the next 3-5 years.
