What are you paying for gas?

Come to Canada - here where I live, $1.07 per litre (3.84 litres per US gallon, therefore $4.11!!!!!) and given the Canadian/US dollars are close to par, that really sucks. :wall: I've seen gas prices at $1.15 per litre locally (within 80 kilometers).

Gary.

Ha guys you should all move to the UK with gas costing $7.80 USD per US gallon :wall: :furious:..... we complain over hear but makes no change ... they predict fuel will be over $10 USD per gallon later in the year due to raising oil prices world wide :mad2:

WOW! Thats why when I go to get gas the place is full of plates from Canada. The malls too.

$1.09 a litre here in Canada which is about $4.18 a gallon! And I'm in Alberta the province that produces a majority of the oil and gas. Ripoff!

I don't know about you guys but it seems that the price of gas isn't the topic of discussion it was a year ago. Seems that people are getting used to it. Sure people grumble, but I don't hear the outright revolt people spoke of when it was climbing to over $2.

I also would like a clear, definitive answer as to why? Is it political? global? China's demand or is it really just a commodity that has attracted the speculators in the investment world,or is it an enviromental reason?

I mean it seemed it happened in just a few months time.

greed.

Super Unleaded for TTA 3.63/gal in Naples Florida- Diesel for my truck is 3.85/gal.
It can only go up from here.

One gas station in Chicago is charging $3.39 for reg unleaded (87) no more than 1/2 a mile away, not even in Chicago they charge $3.69 for reg unleaded (87)...I know there's chicago tax on gas and cook county tax on that, but what's the reason for the same gas in the same location charging .30 more??? If people starting blowing up gas station and revolting against these crooks betcha gas prices would change quickly. We as the consumer just sit there and take it... in the a@#. Wake up people

Gas stations don't set the prices...They make very little on gas. We had a guest speaker in one of my classes (which could have been a buncha of :jason:) and he said they make much more on candy and coke then anything and the gas is just to get you in there.

Then why don't they stop selling gas and just sell candy bars and pop? Glad to see you believe everything thats told to you. I guess they do it because they love to do it, like a car hobby, something you love to do. Yeah they dont' make anything. Wake up, they own a business and it's profitable, really profitable.

If I believed everything that was told to me I wouldn't own a TTA. A SBC with a shot of nitrous is the fastest thing in the world right??

Hence the added "Which could be a bunch of bullshit" disclaimer. I don't care if they make a profit or not. I need gas and will buy it. If they all band together we have to pay it. Which they have sucessfully done..

Case in point, if the gas stations set the price then why did Exxon/Mobil have two record quarters in a row? The price per barrel of oil has gone up which is NOT set by the owner of the local EZ mart.

:poke::poke:

Cheers!

I paid $3.11 today for regular today. This $hit is a mess. On average I spend around $150 bucks a week to drive. I use to run a tow truck for a guy who owned a gas station. This was back in the 90's. He showed me he made .01 cent on Regular and .03 cents on midgrade and maybe .05 cents on premium. He use to make his guys push the premium grade. Now that George Bush is behind the wheel and wants to pay for this war mess he made with fuel. His entire family is in the oil business so I'm sure he wants to make sure all of them are rich before he leaves as well. So now I would say yes. They are making money and it's hand over fist because Exxon keeps reporting record profits. The country is afraid something is going to happen so they run scared and run the prices up. Sad part is something will happen in time and it will only get worse.

On top of that lets go with ethanol fuel! Yea ok that back fired in Bush's face! Now everyone is growing corn. To grow corn you murder the water supply as it needs allot of water to grow. So now out west is this droughts from all this corn. And now the farmers are growing corn they are not growing as much wheat and that runs the price of that up. The cost of fuel is up so it costs more now to get that expensive wheat to market so that makes that price go up.

I honestly can't understand why someone hasn't kill Bush by now. He is the worst president in history. Hands down. And our next president isn't lookin good no matter who wins! McCain gets in there be ready to pay $10 bucks a gallon.

The next issue. It won't be long and we'll be out of fuel in this country and world wide. One Arab put it in clear words. He said his grandfather rode a camel. His father drove a car. He drives a limo. His son will drive a car and his grand children will ride a camel.

Also don't' forget. You have these Asian countries that were using bikes all the time are now driving. So they need more fuel. This again runs the prices up.

End story.. The future is not looking good for fuel. Jason your kids might not even know what a motor car is!

Good post. I don't necessarily agree with everything about Bush but that is for another day.

My point being, gas stations do not make a killing selling gas.
