What kind of wheels do you have on your TTA?

Still got my stock 16x8 Gold Diamond Spoke rims on her (my 20th TTA). But, I did just pick up two rear rims that are 16x8 White Diamond Spokes! I just have to respray the white, and polish the chrome abit, and then add some GSC's, and then find two fronts, and do the same. I want to be able to change from Gold to White every so often just to have my car be alittle different! Oh ya, also to save on my "Z" gaterbacks! I also have two sets of Black, but I put one set onto my 1981 Turbo Trans Am, and the other set onto my girlfriend's 1991 Firebird with the Sport Appearance Package. I also have a Gold rear set with Mickey Thompsons on them for my 20th TTA, along with one spare Gold Diamond Spoke brand new (NOS) in the box! Can you tell that I just love this style rim? Ha! I always thought that Pontiac had some really great rims compared to other Car makes.

I want to take over this topic, but I have a couple of questions regarding the GTA/TTA rims.
First, Did TTA's come with black rims or gold rims, I have seen both styles on TTA's.
Second, Does any aftermarket wheel manufacturer companies make an identical TTA rim with the proper offsets in 17 or 18 inch rims?
Again don't want to take over this topic, but I thought that these questions were relative to this topic!

TTAs only came with the gold diamond Spoke wheels. Classic Ind. sells the gloss black wheels for a very good price (I hear someone say that they are sold out?). So, most people bought those vs. the gold (still able to get from the dealer-around $300-$400 each! Classic sells the set for about half.
As to the wheels able to be bigger and identical, not exactly. See, Pontiac has "copied" other popular wheels for the Trans Am for some time. The Rally II five spoke-Cragar SS,the Turbo wheel of '79-'81-BBS racing wheels-look at the Trans Am Racing Series races and see all the cars with this style wheel, The 15 inch and 16 (ours) Diamond Spoke-again, BBS Racing wheels. Pontiac has really taken care of the Firebird/Trans Am enthusiast. Heck, from the five spoke of the fourth gens, back to the "Knight Rider" "Bowling Ball" wheels, they are all somewhat copied from racing wheels.
So, buy a BBS wheel in 17 or larger sizes. They look real close!

Is anyone running a decent set of 17" rims with the proper offset? I've been looking for some for quite a while but have yet to come up with anything I really like. I'd like something with a more open design for brake cooling. I'd also like to stick some 13" rotors on the front (thus the need for 17" rims).
I was considering some ROH wheels that are featured on the '88 Formula that GM Hi-Tech is building up but after seeing the same rims on a SUV on the street I was turned off. Any suggestions or brand names would be appreciated.

I've been trying to find some good 17s for my car also. How about Fikse wheels? I was looking into them before but they were too rich for me. over $550 each GP price! 3 piece, polished, any offset you want. There was a group purchase on them about a year ago. Good Luck!

Thanks for the tip but I'm not really into sticking Cheverolet rims on my TTA. I did consider putting ZR-1 rims on but even the fronts are 17" x 9.5" so clearance would be an issue. The ROH rims were reasonable, about $900 for the set of 4. The distributor also had some trick 3-piece rims that were lighter but much pricier. The search continues...

I don't remember right offhand, but what were the Firehawk rims of the '91-'92 era? Were they still 16's? maybe you can contact SLP and see if they experimented with 17's or 18's. Also, didn't BBS make wheels for the Trans Am series bigger than 16? Just a thought.
Oh ya, I don't think anyone would compare your car to a SUV! As to comparing your car to a Chevy, doesn't just about everybody call your (and ours)car a Camaro? I'm sure someone makes a three peice rim for you in the size and backspaceing you want. Hey, you want to play with the big boys, you gotta pay like the big boys! HeHe! You know, if money is a problem, I can help you out by taking some items off you hands! Ha!
