What size cat do I need to order (stock exhaust diameter?) ---

Hey Guys ---

Someone did a cat delete on my car, and now it wont pass inspection.

I have the guy at AutoZone telling me I need a 2 1/4" cat , a guy on one forum telling me 2 1/2" in 3" out , and another guy telling me its 2 3/4" pipe for the cat, lol.

Will someone please help me clear this up. I want to get a universal cat to bring to the shop with me. THANKS!!! ---

Can you apply for antique status where your at? Some places allow 20 year old cars or older to forgo the emissions test if you have antique plates.

Is you exhaust completely stock other than the cat delete pipe?
I'd call Jack Cotton, he probably could lead you to a better flowing high flow cat for not much $$$. That will fit the first try.

I just replaced the exhaust on mine. Stock was 2 1/4" in and 2 3/4" out. I put one of the new style 3 1/2" "spun" converters on it with a 3 1/2" system and a Magnaflow muffler. Sounds very nice.

I dont have to do an emissions test ... but they said all cars newer than 1981 needed a cat.

I can see if I am able to apply for a collectors/antique status.

I actually like the added back pressure that a cat gives on turbo vehicles. It helps a lot from overboosting on my syclone.

This exhaust I have now is stock with a test pipe and a flowmaster muffler ---
