what stands out about this car

I didn't know if that was possible to get the T/A ground effects on anything but a TA. And no aero spoiler

And I've never seen that color before is that original? I've search 1986 Pontiac colors and the only thing that looks close was on a Bonneville. The 2 blue colors for the F car were lighter and more medium blue than this one is.

The car itself is a prime candidate for an LS swap, but not at that price.

1985-86 Firebird SE's didn't include TA body PKG. Alot of the TA body PKG parts were used on 90 Firebirds with 6 cyl. Looked like a TA but had a cyl. It had a specific name for PKG. No aero wing though just regular flat pedastal wing...86 FB SE had TA hood, tail lights and TA interior including seats and door panels. If it was a V8 it had TA gauges.

Also had TA hood and tail lights. If it had that hood and tail lights it was a V8 usually a TBI. I don't recall ever seeing a Firebird SE TPI. That be rare...

Imagine if you could get a 89 Firebird SE, which wasn't available in 89; no more SE PKG then but if they had it and order a FB SE with a 6cyl turbo ????
 
and this is why alot of these cars aren't around anymore...Idiots

Iv'e got what you need, a 62k mile H/T roller, just begging for a LS...
 
I like that it's a 5 spd...Several things are kinda questionable from just the photos. It's really only worth $2700 IMO

that's even lower than I would have offered, I would be all in at $3500, if I could peak at the underside first.

So, based on the above posts, if I read them correctly, this is a base model that a private owner added the Ground effects. And there is no way, based on model year, that it is factory? correct?

What about the color? anyone know what it's called? is it factory? I've never seen it.
 
1986 Firebird paint color from factory was bright blue code 24. The Trans Ams had grey on the bottom. The car above seems a little darker than stock, but could just be the lighting.

If it is an S/E, factory only produced about 2200 of those in 1986 with the V-6 or V-8, and probably not very many manual tranny ones.

The VIN could reveal some of the info.

Car is priced high. But if you frequent the sale boards, there are a lot of overpriced 3rd gens now.
 
It's tempting but I want a different color 3rd gen then what I've had....

and Kymmee thanks for the input, it just looks like a slate blue to me with a tinge of grey in it. And everything under the hood looks the same as the exterior.

I'm thinking about e-mailing him with an offer but at that price it's gonna come off as insulting.

It's an ideal candidate to make a sleeper out of....tinted windows, Hurst gold dazzler wheels....with a procharged iron block stroker LS2 under the hood.

I know, right?

Yeah, I just do not recall ever seeing any 86 firebirds with GTA ground effects.
I don't think that was offered until 1990 thru 92. My brother had a 92 EFI 5 spd with GTA ground effects. Fun car to drive. I dig the manual trans.

I don't see anyone making a EFI Trans Am into a base firebird, but anything is possible. I don't even remember this color being available in any model.
