Any educated guesses? I just a got this car. I'm in the process of familiarizing myself with it as much as possible. There is this switch located on the OBD cover which is grounded to the the under dash. The other wire runs toward the ECM side but have not followed it thoroughly due to lack of time at the moment. The question is… what could possibly need grounding to close the circuit using a toggle switch in that location? You guesses are welcome. Maybe someone has the same mod?

Yeah, I thought about that but won't be able to drive the car for another 5-10 days when I get all my documentation straight. I will try it then and post up what I found. Thanks for the reply. Jr.

The ECM is behind the dash pocket behind the dash. Might be heading there. Lay on the floor on the passenger side take off that plastic cover and look up.

Oh ok, I though it would be behind passenger kicker panel as the Buicks. I am familiar with the turbo Buick. I'm fixing some bugs on this car and buying it rear tires getting it ready for some summer cruises. This gives me a chance to acquire knowledge on the turbo bird.

Well, been working like a dog and no time to look into this deal here yet. Drove it and flicked the switch but nothing seemed to happen with rpm's. Maybe when I stop working so much... Don't even have time to enjoy it. Blah!

This is a longshot but since you said nothing engine related happened when you switched it, heres some input. I have 2 toggle switches under my driver side. The one is a kill switch for the power antenna (really annoying having it go up and down when just moving the car)which was installed after I bought the car. The other toggle was a mystery, but traced the wire, and here it is a kill switch for the rear lights. My guess is some previous owner was being a bad boy and liked to escape from the law??! Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out there as somemore ideas for you as to what it is.
