Where to hook up engine tie down strap in a TTA?

Ok started to hook up my tie down strap to keep the engine from moving around ... hwoever pretty tight in that area so was wondering where you hook "the other end" of the strap? Any pictures would be great as it seems to either ride on the AC compressor housing, and or the steering coupler thing ... so no where really I can see where to hook it into the frame / engine cross member or similar and clear everything when hooked up to the eye nut I installed on the alternator per picture.

Here's an older shot of what I started out with,I've since replaced the turnbuckle with a ratchet strap to minimize metal to metal noise. I hooked where you are hooking to and took it over to the strut mount. I fabbed up a bracket using 1/4" bar stock to bolt onto two of the strut tower mounting bolts. It's horky and I don't like it, but we have little options with the F-body engine bay.

I used to run the identical setup before I rebuilt the engine but what you really want to do is lock the engine down verticly and not horizontaly ... I know people have different opinions on this but with the "rolling" upwards motion the engine do do, verticly makes more sense to me than horizontally.

On the on the back side of the cross member threr is a hole to hook the strap. In the pictures from below the strap is disconnected from the Eye bolt and hanging down. The hook is still in the crossmember. Kinda fish it thru as shown on the top view pictures. you may need a longer Eyebolt on the alternator, you'll have to see

Glenn, got it hooked up and seems to do the trick ... not driven it more than in and out of the garage at the moment ...

Anyway, the strap is pretty close (about an inch or so) to the header (no 1 pipe) ... any problems with heat you think?

Iran mine like that for 5-6 years with no issues. if it was still hooked up i'd send a pick.

Strut Brace

Is that the BMR Strut Tower Brace? Is it the one they have listed for the TPI engine, or is it TTA specific?

Yes, and it clears the doghouse just fine. It's the TPI application

It's a 2 point bolted to the upper strut towers. Photos attached.

End pieces are from UMI (link below) then I had a local company bend and custom made the bar before I had it all powder coated and installed.

1987 - 1992 GM F-Body Adjustable Strut Tower Brace [2008] - $169.99 : UMI Performance, Inc.

I have no idea if their setup works out of the box but UMI had not tested it and did not know at the time so they agreed to sell me the bits as pictured below so I could get the bar custom made to fit.
