Which race tires work best for you all?

Right now I have a set of Nitto DR's that will be comming off for the 2003 race season. I'm torn making a decision on what race tire will replace them. This is what I'm thinking. For a radial and street/strip racing, I think the BFG DR's hook better than the Nitto DR's. Staying with the radial tires will keep my MPH up on the big end. Now, if I should decide to go with a "real race" tire, my options are the Hoosier QT Pro's, the MT Steet ET's, and the M&H Racemasters. The Hoosiers are a tad too small on the contact patch but really hook well, so I don't know if the smaller size is going to be a problem or not? I really don't care for the MT's, and the M&H's come in a 305/45/16 and are quite sticky compared to the rest. I know people that have had good luck with the M&H's, but they totally suck in the rain as do the rest of them short of the BFG's. What are you all running, and what kind of short times do these tires produce for ya? I really need a tire that will work well with my trans brake, so the bias plies will prolly be the better choice.
PS>>>Dio the larger MT's rub with the stock wheel? I noticed they have a smaller size as well. Too bad the Hoosiers are not a tad larger:(

well, I don't have a lot of mods but I recently ran a 12.31@110 with a 1.75 60ft on BFG 255/50/16 drag radials. The only downfall to the BFG's is they only come in 255 and we already have too tall of a gear. I have been eyeballing a set of 24x8x15 M/T slicks for ricers. I think it might lower the ratio a slight amount and aid in the launch.

I got it last September. Problem with the MSE's is there is really not anyway to verify how the car came. You just have to trust the records and unfortunately this car has changed hands many times. It does have an aluminum intake on the car so it might have had the git kit. I was just satisfied it had all the stripes, emblems and steering wheel intact. I just need centercaps to have everything.

Hi again Snakeskinner!
Man, I wish I knew abot you needing center caps earlier! I just sold 2 new ones to a guy names 12secTrans Am over on thirdgen.org! Sorry!
Does your car have the headers from the Git Kit?
I may have some literature for the car, I'll have to check!

Congrads on your new toy,

George
