Who is running a Janis transmission?

I chose Janis mainly because he is within reasonable driving distance and his reputation is unimpeachable within the turbo buick world. But I have no doubts about any of the other 200R builders that support the turbo buick community either. They all have excellent feedback here and at TB.

But the spector of shipping a trans across the country is something that I couldn't wrap my small mind around. I know it's done everyday but standing face to face with the guy who is building your transmission is worth allot to me.

And not to take away anything from local trans shops...I'm sure they can more than handle a 4L60E or something that is behind 300H.P. or less. But a boosted engine requires some special attention....and experience.

My mistake was not doing this 6 weeks ago when he was slower...now I'm squandering nice days to thrash this car.

So it's back...but not installed yet. The convertor ended up being one from TCS , they are the ones who build the 9X11 convertors for PTS extreme automatics in CA and it looks just like them too, billet front etc. It's a 2800 stall-non lock.

Should be in shortly...

I managed to button it up and put 25 miles of easy driving on it as per Vince's request. So far so good,no leaks, no wierd noises.

Shifts fine for not flogging it and I can actually feel it shift, unlike before when it just moved from gear to gear...slushily (if that's a word).

I did spool it up to 10PSI and seems smoother and a bit more slow to spool. But before it would whizz right up to 20-25 PSI in an instant depending on where I had the actuator set.

If it quits raining I'll take it out and log some WOT runs and report back as to whether this was the right convertor choice.

The factory service manual does a pretty good job of describing it. Truth be told, you can leave the starter, crossover in place which is a time saver.

The hardest part was getting the top 2 bellhousing bolts out. Once that is done it( trans) can be on the floor in 30 minutes or less.

Is that too vague?

Get the top two bellhousing bolts from above. Save your knuckles and religion.

Tried that...still sucked even with coil pack removed. It was best for me to lower the crossmember and let the engine/trans tilt back a bit and I was able to get them with a wobble socket no sweat.
