Who will win this one???

Hard to say...we're 2 months out yet and stuff happens. Scandals revealed, gaffs spoken or VP candidates changed. The contest to watch is the house races, that's where the direction of the country's mood will manifest.

I'm certainly not excited about the top of either ticket, but Mrs. Palin has gotten my attention.

For the sake of the United States, I think Obama is the better choice...based on the fact that here in Europe he's already far better received than McCain. The European thought is generally that McCain will have more of what's already been seen over the past 8 years.
Unfortunately there's still plenty of people out there that will probably vote McCain for no other reason than the fact that he's white....sad!
It's a shame that in 2008 we still face a United States that's still not the melting pot we claim it to be....

I have to agree with 400. McCains economic plans are mirrored to the last 8 years, and your all suffering from what George has done. His opinion on Irac?.....Are you friggin kidding me. The part I dont get is the majority of the population disagrees with whats happening in Irac yet want to have a president that agrees with it. No doubt in my mind its about race.

John McCain views would make him a Democrat in years past. Looking back, Roosevelt, Truman, Kennedy and even Johnson may have been more conservative than him. Obama is a far left liberal. He, along with the current congress remind me of the Jimmy Carter era.
Even though both candidates may be forced to raise taxes, expect Obama to have his hand in all taxpayers pockets, not just the rich. Sell your collector cars and get ready for super inflation; 15% CDs and 17% home mortgages. Polosi and Reid will push Obama into every spending bill they can come up with.
I find it curious that foreigners think Americans are so close minded and Obama does not stand a chance based on skin color. If that was the case how did he get the Democratic nod and why do the Republicans have a woman on the ticket.

I could give 2 shits what what the rest of the world thinks of us and our choices for president. Keep propping up your neo-socialist gov't's and see where you are when the soviets are back at your gates.

Who does the world come to when they need help? We'll see how pedastrian, un-cultured and small minded you think we are then.

When your economy suffers ours is soon to follow, so dont think I dont care what happens to your country. It affects us as well.

i could give a rat's ass what Europe thinks of us. They dont mind war when it saves their ass, and they sure can't handle anything on their own. They are like a giant United Nations, with Britain being the exception.

WOW! Who said anything about smallminded? You really should give "2 shits"!! We rely on the rest of the world more than you think!! The world has become a financial war zone...and the US dollar has always been the world currency, but if you've been keeping an eye on our economy, you'll notice that we're not doing so hot. Being stationed overseas I see it first hand...$1 buys only 0.68 Euros. So not giving a "shit" only worsens and alienates the US from the rest of the World. I'd rather see a United States to which the rest of the World looks up to and wants to be just like. That's not currently the case.

That is the statement that implies small mindedness. Did you ever stop to consider that maybe, just maybe, people don't like his(or his party's) left wing platform? No, probably not. We're Americans, therefore racists.

And I'm going to stick to my statement that I could give 2 shits what the world thinks of us.
Listen, I have had pleasure(?) of having 2 europeans as quasi social friends here. One a German national the other Swiss. Both were arrogant, snotty and extremely condescending of all things American and both of these lovely people were a part of my life 12 and 14 years ago. So guess what? they hated us when Bill Clinton was at the helm too. Sure 2 people don't constitute a majority of Europeans, but I had plenty of discussions about their disgust for us backward Americans. One of them finally summed it up as "well, America is just a young country, not like countries in europe, older and wiser."

As an aside I replied to her(the German)"Wiser? like the extermination of 2 million jewish people wiser?"

As far as looking up to us, they will never look up to us. They may look to us though, like when they need patriot missle batterys on the Polish border or a Sunami strikes or Earthquake stikes. They love us when we come to thier aide with our checkbook in hand.

Truth, most people vote republican because they're republican. Democratic the same, not cause one or the other candidate is a certain shade of blue. White or black, party lines transcend color by far. It's family, it's religion, personal values, personal ethics/morality, as well it's your own hood's popular opinion that affects voter convictions left or right, many things can influence voting...Why always "aw, it's cause he's black"?. The color thing is old and tired, so stop it. I want voters and myself to base a important right as voting to be based on content. Which unfortunately we've little of because of crazy preachers, "boo, hoo, he's black" , "how many houses do you have?", "pregnant daughter", lipstick on a pigs, chimp comments, Oprah's massiah, "She believes in the literal interpretation of Genesis", "cindy McCain stole drugs"....all the bullshit like the aforementioned needs to be moved aside for the "meat and 3". I want more IDEAS for improving the economy sucking, 82% of those polled want out of Iraq. Oil prices are out of control, our infrastructures may be somewhat in decline based on recent bridge failures. So who has the best ideas?, not who has the best heard of rhetoric cows spewing more of the same craposis?

A main reason I enjoy this forum is that everyone has excellent ettiquette and friendliness. I enjoy the folks that think differently as much as the folks that share my opinions, but in the end it's all opinions. I don't want to destroy that great harmony which I enjoy in this forum with an off topic discussion that nobody wins. I've been in forums in which it doesn't matter and no one cares, but I know that this forums is a better place, so I don't think I'll post in this thread anymore.

We have international folks here, and it's not fair to them to be generalized.
Peace.
Bob

Politics make me nuts when they are dragged into a car forum. All the other boards I'm involved in I made sure there was no politics section. Sometimes that stuff makes people hate other people that they normally would not have an issue with just from their political views. They had a politics section on t6p and when they took me on as a mod there I did a poll to remove that section from the board and it was a landslide to take it away. I wanted them to take it away from tb.com as well but that never happend. There are forums out there for politics and it's usually a mud flinging mad house. I saw this thread start up and I almost thought about locking/deleting it right away but I figured we have a nice buncha guys here and it would not get ugly. So keep it nice and clean (pretty much impossible with politics talk...) and I won't have to show you my view on all of it! ;)

Lets lighten things up then. How about debating creationism vs. evolution.
That should be an easy topic to throw constructive commentary back and forth for. :chat::chair:

You can only bring up how many t-top/ hard top cars and where are the 2 convertable TTA only so many times. So far this thread is the most adult and respectable political thread I've read. It's almost giving me a cavity it's so sweet.
