Wideband

I just got my wideband O2. I was wondering who else had this and if you can replace the stock sensor with the wideband and tap into the new one for the computer. Or if you have to drill another hole for the new sensor. If you need to drill a hole for the wideband where is the best place. I was guessing in the down pipe. Thanks.

widebands should be 18inches ideally from the cylinder head, being that that theres a turbo there it has to go back a bit, just make sure its pre cat

You have to create a new hole for the Wideband sensor, or at least everyone I know did it this way.

Here's the poop...You cannot replace your narrowband O2 with your wideband,#1, it won't live long close to that turbo.#2, your chip still uses the narrowband for idle,cruise,part throttle operation.That is if your still running the factory ECM.

#3, Place it down the down pipe pre-cat(if you run one) or in the replacement test pipe where the cat once was. That's not too far away as the wideband is stand alone and has it's own heater...so don't worry about that. Place the bung above the horizontal plane of the pipe as high on the clock position as you can, like say 2:00 or 10:00, or whatever. Just not between the 3:00 and 9:00 O'clock position as it needs to be able to rid itself of condensation....or anti freeze like when you blow a HG.:eeks:

Thanks. I was wondering if the Test pipe would be too far. That makes it much easier to do. I'll pull mine of next week to weld a bung in it for the wideband.
