i pulled off the old spoiler today and it came out very easy...though i have some questions the 10mm bolts that connect the spoiler to the trunk had a rubber piece on the washers they crumbled off should i put new rubbers on? also the dirt and grime was really bad i sat there and hand compounded most of the rusty looking grime off...i used a turtle wax compound that i thought was really good...but were the arms laid over the trunk right before the glass you can see the lines and it looks yellow and im not sure if it will come off with the orbital im not worried abou tthe yellow tint im worried bout the lines there and the lines were the brake light was...like i said all the dirt n grime is off but the lines are annoying me...any tips?? like what compound i should use?

i forgot to take pics while i was doin it but ill tell u the steps i took:
1). i took off the black caps and undid all the bolts 10mm
the last bolt on the passenger side of the truck got stuck.
2). i pushed up and that released the stuck bolt the pushed foward and the spoiler came off easily
3). i put a little wd40 on the stuck nut and bolt and with a pair of chanel locks and the socket they came apart slowly
4). after removing the spoiler i flipped it over and removed the brake light two bolts 10mm
5). after takin off the spoiler and brake light i opened the trunk and unscrewed the plastic panel under the trunk to get to the wires for the brake light simply disconnect the wire and then go back to the top off the trunk and with a flathead screwdriver carefully remove the black plug the wire is ran through and the wire will slip through easily leaving you a clean and flat surface to work with (believe me you will need this)
6). by now you will notice all the crud were the spoiler was and here is the fun part...
7). wash of with water as much of the crud as you can...then with a cloth and car wash clean of the whole trunk lid.
8). after drying you will be left with rust lookin crud on the lid...now for the really fun part get some rubbing compound and a polish cloth (if you cant get an orbital and if you cant get an orbital this reallyyyy suckss)!!!
9).after about an hour you should get all of it off with the exception of the lines from the arms of the spoiler you really need an orbital there
10). clean it off again and you should have a baby"s butt smooth finish.
11). line up the spoiler make sure everything looks ...thats as i far as i got today...will post pics that will follow the step numbers i wrote ...will continue the rest tomorrow!!
