Fastest TTA w/stock motor and turbo

Good question.. Back in 89 /90 wifes car ran 11.9s @ 114 from what I remember. Had a chip, K&N, race gas, Dot's, and a shift kit. If I had one today I'd say closer to mid 11s with Alky.

Used to be a guy in OH that ran ~11.75 @ 117-118 with very little mods. I've lost touch with him over the years but that would be my guess.

Wow thats fast, That was smoking back in the Day! Stock turbo? and Dot's? like Dippin.......
I like ice cream
Thanks for info Guy's

TTA's were easier to work with over the GN's goin in the 11s.. We had a fleet back then. Our summer cars.. Wifes new TTA.. My 86 GN with NOS and my sons GN.. Winter cars I won't say.. Guys will cry ;-)

Hopefully me by next year, putin 1077 back to stock and starting from scratch. Going old school, Grumpy style. Gotta change out injectors and pump though, gettin tired and I’m sure they would hamper my plans if not cause major problems.

His name was Brian Lorenzo, ran an 11.7 back in the late 90's on an all stock power train car. Used to have pics. & a write up about it on the old TTA website. Printed out that article years ago and re descoverd it, that's what inspired me to go old school. It worked back then & it will work now. Low 12's high 11's is good enough for me with a 23 year old collectible car. Only difference is back then race gas @ the track was $4 or so a gallon, now its like $9-10 a gallon.

Oops! I apologise, especially to Brian for messing up his last name its "Lorenz" NOT Lorenzo. Sorry...

I don't think it's a matter of if they will do a certain number stock but a matter of how many time's and stay in one piece... just a thought

ok.... I raced my wifes TTA 2 or 3 times a WEEK.. Wed/Fri nights and Saturday test sessions. From 1989 to the mid 90s.. 100k+ miles. Blew 2 headgaskets .. That was it.. Rear end .. ended up with a 9" Ford by 1991. Trans I would R&R it at the beginning of each race season.. Basically check the trans out an reclutch it.. (A haircut and a shave :-) ) These cars can take a beating AS LONG AS YA HAVE NO DETONATION !!! ;-) Stock cars were a blast back then. Only thing I would have added to the wifes car is Alky.. Easy mid 11s !! Oh the best thing as that when I sold it I did tell the guy it was my wifes car. Most "assumed" driven like a little old lady.. YES I did give them the history !! Ya should have seen the looks on there face !!

honestly i'm glad that one the car will take a beating and two there are people like you left that know what they are talking about, that's why i ask question's hoping to get answers instead of B.S, i'm sure it can be very annoying for someone to ignore good advice and and then ask what side the battery is on.. and the first question everybody ask's is "what can i do to run low 10's" before they even know what size tire's are on it...:lamo:, at this point i know just enough about THESE car's to be dangerous...:D but hey it's fun and only money...

Thank for link TTA 1077 Cool thread! wonder what Scott89 did with old ported DP housing? :idea5:
"Grumpy" thanks for the info and stories........ It was my wifes car is a riot!!

Update on my car, was out racing a buddies GSXR 600 (a couple WOT passes to 120 from a slow roll) when I hit recall on SM 714 and 1.9 KO so I turned alky all the way up in the box I guess if you plan on running stock turbo full tilt on pump gas you gotta turn it up!
Might put some more fuel in it too. Was thinking of getting PL so I could really see exactly whats going on. You guys using the PL?

ok have to throw out more dependability info ;-) ... My daughter has a 9 sec street driven GN that we drive the hell out of. Boost is set around 27#s !! Do we use it.. Not much but it's there IF we need it for a few seconds! Prob in reality only go to 20#s .. Put it this way ..The Scanmaster doesn't record the info because we hadn't gone full throttle. Prob well over 20k miles on one motor (MY motor out of my RX7) and 7k on her new motor. Very simple tried an true street set up.. I am old an can't live with boarder line race cars (high stahl converters) .. Ya we are LU people to. She had her car on vacation up in NH. Drove 3 hours to get up there with the AC cranking.. Had a week long heat wave here. She put 1300 miles on during the 10 days.. Also drove the car up the Mount Washington road. That was an adventure. After vacation I needed a "Loaner" so we have her car here using it as our daily driver till we get our new car in a month.. We are all over the place with the dog in the back seat.. Wife has no problem driving it. (she is short an needs the power seat). Sooo pics your combo's an don't go crazy with the "bigger is better thing".. We broke 2 rocker arms since 2007.(Our fault.. cutting the coil bind thing a little to close). Here are a few pics of Mt Washington at the top.

Secret to keep it going ???? NO KNOCK !!!! NONE !! NADA !! get my point ;-)

Nice looking GN she has Dan! Those mtns. sure look nice.

Kinda reminds me of when I got my TTA in Tennessee and I took it for a test ride all the way to the top of the Great Smokey Mtns. National Park to New Found Gap. I said if it made it up there and back it will be a good car, and it has been.:)

Yep, Brian is the same guy. Like I said, I've lost touch with him but met him a couple of times up in Cleveland. I know some of his combo, setup, and tune/chip came via Red Armstrong at the time.

Back in the early 90's Joe Copson and a guy named Vic were in the 10's with their cars with bolt ons and stock motor.
